Road Safety (Traffic) (Amendment) Regulations
1996
The Governor in Council makes the following Regulations:

1. Objectives
The objectives of these Regulations are—
(a)
to ensure that where a taxi or other vehicle is permitted to be driven in a bus lane the driver of the taxi or other vehicle is authorised to comply with traffic control signals that normally apply only to buses;
(b)
to permit the Corporation to approve a trailer for the carriage of passengers subject to any specified conditions; and
(c)
to correct an error in regulation 1704 of the Principal Regulations.
2. Authorising provision
These Regulations are made under section 95 of the Road Safety Act 1986.

3. Principal Regulations
In these Regulations, the Road Safety (Traffic)
Regulations 19881 are called the PrincipalRegulations.
4. Application of bus signals to other drivers
After regulation 401(15) of the Principal
Regulations, insert—
"(15A) Sub-regulations (13), (14) and (15) apply to
the driver of a vehicle (other than a public
commercial passenger vehicle) that is
permitted to be driven in a bus lane under
regulation 514(3) while that vehicle is being
driven in a bus lane, as if that vehicle were a
public commercial passenger vehicle.".
5. Amendment of regulation 1504 of the Principal Regulations
After regulation 1504(2)(d) of the Principal
Regulations, insert—
" ; or
(e) a trailer that has been approved by the Corporation for the carriage of passengers, and is being used in accordance with the conditions (if any) of that approval".
6. Amendment of regulation 1704 of the Principal Regulations
In regulation 1704(1) of the Principal Regulations, for "1703" substitute "1702".
