Road Safety (Procedures) (Taxi-Cabs) Regulations

1996

The Governor in Council makes the following Regulations:

1. Objective

The objective of these Regulations is to increase the penalties for touting in the case of taxi-cabs and passenger vehicles and smoking in a taxi-cab.

2. Authorising provisions

These Regulations are made under section 95 of the Road Safety Act 1986.

3. Commencement

These Regulations come into operation on 1

October 1996.

4. Traffic infringement penalties

In Schedule 6 to the Road Safety (Procedures)

Regulations 19881—

(a)

in the entry in respect of Code 2407, for "100" substitute "500";

Road Safety (Procedures) (Taxi-Cabs) Regulations 1996

(b)

in the entry in respect of Code 2412, for "50" substitute "200";

(c)

in the entry in respect of Code 2471, for "100" substitute "500".
