Road Safety (Procedures) (Probationary Licence)

Regulations 1996

The Governor in Council makes the following Regulations:

1. Objective

The objective of these Regulations is to remove the description of some probationary licences as red probationary licences.

2. Authorising provision

These Regulations are made under section 95 of the Road Safety Act 1986.

3. Principal Regulations

In these Regulations, the 1Road Safety
(Procedures) Regulations 1988 are called the
Principal Regulations.

4. Amendment of Regulation 105

In Regulation 105 of the Principal Regulations—

(a) for the definition of " 'P' plate" substitute— ' " 'P' plate" means a plate measuring

approximately 150 millimetres by 150 millimetres that has a white letter "P" clearly marked on a red background;'; and

(b)

the definition of "red probationary licence" is revoked.

5. Amendment of Regulation 204

In Regulation 204 of the Principal Regulations,
for sub-regulation (1) substitute—

"(1) If a driver licence is issued on probation, the

period of probation to be specified in the

licence is 3 years.".

6. Amendment of Regulation 206

In Regulation 206(2) of the Principal Regulations
for "red probationary licence" substitute
"probationary driver licence issued on or after 1

August 1990".

7. Amendment of Regulation 227

In Regulation 227(5) of the Principal

Regulations—

(a)

for "red probationary licence" substitute "probationary driver licence issued on or after 1 August 1990"; and

(b)

for "further probationary licence" substitute "further probationary driver licence".

8. Amendment of Schedule 6

In Schedule 6 to the Principal Regulations, in the entry in respect of Code 2110, for "Red probationary licence holder" substitute "Holder of a probationary driver licence issued on or after 1 August 1990".
