Road Safety (General) (Prescribed Devices and Other Amendments) Regulations 2007

The Governor in Council makes the following Regulations:

1Objective

The objective of these Regulations is to amend the Road Safety (General) Regulations 1999 to prescribe additional speed measuring devices and to make amendments relating to automatic detection devices consequential to the commencement of the Justice and Road Legislation Amendment (Law Enforcement) Act 2007.

2Authorising provision

These Regulations are made under section 95 of the Road Safety Act 1986.

3Commencement

(1)These Regulations (except regulation 7) come into operation on the day that they are made.

(2)Regulation 7 comes into operation on the day that section 12 of the Justice and Road Legislation Amendment (Law Enforcement) Act 2007 comes into operation.

4Principal Regulations

In these Regulations, the Road Safety (General) Regulations 1999[1] are called the Principal Regulations.

5Prescribed laser devices

In regulation 105 of the Principal Regulations, in the definition of laser device, after paragraph (d), insert––

"(e)the Pro-Lite;

(f)the Pro-Lite +;".

6Prescribed radar devices

In regulation 105 of the Principal Regulations, in the definition of radar device, after paragraph (e), insert––

"(f)the Silver Eagle II;

(g)the Stalker Dual DSR;

(h)the Directional Golden Eagle II;".

7Use of automatic detection devices

In regulation 303 of the Principal Regulations for "and 84(7)" substitute ", 84(7) and 84H(2)(a)".

8Use of radar devices

In regulation 310 of the Principal Regulations––

(a)for "digital speed display" (wherever occurring) substitute "digital target speed display";

(b)in paragraph (d), for "and the Kustom Golden Eagle" substitute ", the Kustom Golden Eagle, the Silver Eagle II, the Stalker Dual DSR, and the Directional Golden Eagle II".
