Road Safety Act 1986

Road Safety (Drivers) and (General) Amendment Regulations 2021

The Governor in Council makes the following Regulations:

1Objectives

The objectives of these Regulations are—

(a)to make consequential amendments to the Road Safety (Drivers) Regulations 2019 and the Road Safety (General) Regulations 2019 arising from the making of the Road Safety Road Rules Amendment Rules 2021; and

(b)to amend the Road Safety (Drivers) Regulations 2019 to make minor and technical amendments.

2Authorising provision

These Regulations are made under section 95 of the Road Safety Act 1986.

3Commencement

These Regulations come into operation on 26 April 2021.

4Schedule 3—Demerit points

In the table in Schedule 3 to the Road Safety (Drivers) Regulations 2019[1]—

(a)in Column 2 of item 7, for "RR 38" substitute "RR 38(1)";

(b)in Column 2 of item 16, for "RR 264(1)" substitute "RR 264";

(c)in Column 2 of item 30, after "144,"

insert

"144A(1),".

5Schedule 4—Demerit points for relevant interstate offences

In the table in Schedule 4 to the Road Safety (Drivers) Regulations 2019—

(a)in Column 2 of item 10, for "ARR 38" substitute "ARR 38(1)";

(b)in Column 2 of item 17, for "ARR 264(1)" substitute "ARR 264".

6Schedule 7—Traffic infringements

In the table in Schedule 7 to the Road Safety (General) Regulations 2019[2], after item 271 insert—

"271A 8395 RR 144A(1) 2 penalty units Fail to pass a bicycle at a sufficient distance".
