Road Safety (Drivers) (Amendment) Regulations
2001
The Governor in Council makes the following Regulations:

1. Objective
The objective of these Regulations is to amend the
Road Safety (Drivers) Regulations 19991 to
prescribe demerit points for certain drink-driving
offences, as a consequence of amendments to the
Road Safety Act 1986 made by the Road Safety(Further Amendment) Act 2001.
2. Authorising provision
These Regulations are made under section 95 of the Road Safety Act 1986.
3. Commencement
These Regulations come into operation on
21 December 2001.

S.R. No. 173/2001 r. 4 4. Amendment of regulation 301—Demerit points for certain drink-driving offences
(1) In regulation 301(7) of the Road Safety (Drivers)
Regulations 1999 insert the following
definition—' "RSA" means the Road Safety Act 1986;'.
(2) In regulation 301(7) of the Road Safety (Drivers)
Regulations 1999, in Table 301—
(a)
in the heading to Column 2, for "Road Rules Reference" substitute "Reference"; and
(b)
before the first item insert the following item—
"Driving or being in RSA 49 10". charge of a motor vehicle
with more than the
prescribed concentration
of alcohol in the person's
blood, where the person's
driver licence or permit
has not been cancelled
for the offence under
section 50(1) or 50(1AB)
of the RSA
