Road Safety (Drivers) Amendment (Heavy Combination Vehicle Licences) Regulations 2013

The Governor in Council makes the following Regulations:

1Objective

The objective of these Regulations is to amend the Road Safety (Drivers) Regulations 2009 to prescribe a new requirement for a heavy combination vehicle licence to give effect to the National Heavy Vehicle Driver Competency Framework in Victoria.

2Authorising provision

These Regulations are made under section 95 of the Road Safety Act 1986.

3Commencement

These Regulations come into operation on 1 July 2013.

4Requirement for heavy combination vehicle licence

For regulation 26 of the Road Safety (Drivers) Regulations 2009[1] substitute

"26   Requirement for heavy combination vehicle licence

For the purposes of regulation 19(b)(i), the requirements for an applicant for a heavy combination vehicle licence are that the applicant—

(a)has, at some time, held—

(i)an Australian driver licence to drive a car for a period of at least 24 months; and

(ii)an Australian driver licence to drive a medium rigid vehicle or a heavy rigid vehicle for a period of at least 12 months; and

(b)has completed a driver training course approved by the Corporation.".
