Road Safety (Drivers) Amendment (Fees) Interim Regulations 2013

The Governor in Council makes the following Regulations:

1Objective

The objective of these Regulations is to amend the Road Safety (Drivers) Regulations 2009 to increase the fee that is payable for grant or renewal of a 3 year, 4 year or 10 year driver licence.

2Authorising provision

These Regulations are made under section 95 of the Road Safety Act 1986.

3Commencement

(1)These Regulations (except regulation 6) come into operation on the day on which they are made.

(2)Regulation 6 comes into operation on 30 January 2014.

4Principal Regulations

In these Regulations, the Road Safety (Drivers) Regulations 2009[1] are called the Principal Regulations.

5Amendments to Schedule 5

(1)After item 7 of Schedule 5 to the Principal Regulations insert—

"7A	Despite item 7, grant or renewal of driver licence in the period commencing on 1 April 2013 and ending on 29 January 2014—for 10 years	62(2)	19·15
7B	Despite item 7, renewal of driver licence where licence expires in the period commencing on 1 April 2013 and ending on 29 January 2014—for 10 years	62(2)	19·15".

(2)After item 8 of Schedule 5 to the Principal Regulations insert—

"8A	Despite item 8, grant or renewal of driver licence in the period commencing on 1 April 2013 and ending on 29 January 2014—for 4 years	62(2)	7·45
8B	Despite item 8, renewal of driver licence where licence expires in the period commencing on 1 April 2013 and ending on 29 January 2014—for 4 years	62(2)	7·45".

(3)After item 9 of Schedule 5 to the Principal Regulations insert—

"9A	Despite item 9, grant or renewal of driver licence in the period commencing on 1 April 2013 and ending on 29 January 2014—for 3 years	62(2)	5·59
9B	Despite item 9, renewal of driver licence where licence expires in the period commencing on 1 April 2013 and ending on 29 January 2014—for 3 years	62(2)	5·59".

6Revocation of amendments to Schedule 5

(1)Items 7A and 7B of Schedule 5 to the Principal Regulations are revoked.

(2)Items 8A and 8B of Schedule 5 to the Principal Regulations are revoked.

(3)Items 9A and 9B of Schedule 5 to the Principal Regulations are revoked.

7Expiry

These Regulations expire on 31 January 2014.
