AN ACT to amend section two hundred and fifty-four of
the Road Districts Act, 1919.

| in this present Parliament assembled, and by the authority of the same, as follows :— |
1. This Act may be cited as the Road Districts Act Short title.
Amendment Act, 1930, and shall be read as one with the
Road Districts Act, 1919, hereinafter referred to as the principal Act.
2. Section two hundred and fifty-four of the principal A Toodf000t of
Act is amended by inserting therein subsections as fol- lows :-
(2) The Board may in any year, if authorised by the Governor, declare in respect of the general rate struck for that year a rebate of such amount as may be approved by the Minister. Notice thereof shall be published in the Government Gazette and in a news- paper circulating in the district, and thereafter rate- payers shall be liable to pay for such year the amount of the general rate as assessed less the amount of such rebate.

(3) If any ratepayer shall ,have paid the amount of the general rate as assessed before a rebate in respect thereof is declared as provided for in subsection (2) hereof, such ratepayer may apply for and the board shall forthwith refund to him the amount of rebate allowable in respect of the amount of the general rate already paid as aforesaid, and if not so applied for shall be placed to the credit of the land so rated.
(4) The provisions of subsections (2) and (3) hereof shall apply to the general rate struck for the financial year current at the date of he commencement of the said subsections.
