Explanatory note
The object of this Rule is to increase the penalties for a driver who commits a speeding offence by exceeding rule-making power).

1 Name of Rule
This Rule is the Road Amendment (Penalties for Speeding Offences) Rule 2018.
2 Commencement
This Rule commences on 1 July 2018 and is required to be published on the NSW legislation website.
3 Amendment of Road Rules 2014
Rule 10–2 NSW rule: penalties and disqualifications for speeding offences
Omit rule 10–2 (3) (a). Insert instead:
(a) is liable to a maximum penalty of 50 penalty units (in the case of a heavy motor vehicle or coach) or 30 penalty units (in any other case), and
