Her Excellency the Governor, with the advice of the Executive Council, has made the following
Rules under the Road Transport Act 2013.

Explanatory note
The object of these Rules is to ensure that emergency services workers and vehicles of the Commonwealth and other States and Territories (including Airservices Australia) operating in New South Wales are treated in the same way as New South Wales emergency services workers and vehicles under the Road Rules 2008. These Rules are made under the Road Transport Act 2013, including section 23 (the general rule-making power).

1 Name of Rules
These Rules are the Road Amendment (Emergency Worker) Rules 2013.
2 Commencement
These Rules commence on the day on which they are published on the NSW legislation website.
3 Amendment of Road Rules 2008
Dictionary
Omit paragraphs (a) and (b) of the definition of emergency worker. Insert instead:
(a) a member of the Ambulance Service or the ambulance service of another State or Territory, in the course of providing transport in an emergency associated with the provision of aid to sick or injured persons, or (b) a member of a fire or rescue service operated by a NSW Government agency, a member of the State Emergency Service or a member of a fire brigade (however referred to) or rescue service of the Commonwealth or another State or territory, providing transport in the course of an emergency, or (b1) a member of Airservices Australia providing transport in the
course of a fire or rescue emergency, or
