An Act to provide for the acquisition of land necessary for the purposes of carrying out flood mitigation works and establishing a linear park along the River Torrens; and for other purposes.

BE IT ENACTED by the Governor of the State of South Australia, with the advice and consent of the Parliament thereof, as follows:

Short title

1. This Act may be cited as the River Torrens (Linear Park) Act, 1981.

Interpretation

2. In this Act—

"the Co-ordinated Development Scheme" means the scheme, described in the Report as the River Torrens Co-ordinated Development Scheme, for developing the River Torrens and its environs as a linear park:

"the land" means land shown on the plan as land to which the Co-ordinated Development

Scheme extends but does not include land within the City of Adelaide:

"the plan" means the plan of the Co-ordinated Development Scheme contained in the Report:

"the Report" means the report entitled "River Torrens Study—A Co-ordinated Development Scheme" prepared for the River Torrens Committee, a copy of which has been deposited in the General Registry Office and is numbered No. 1685 of 1981:

"the River" means the River Torrens.

Acquisition of land

3. (1) The Minister may acquire any parts of the land that are required for the purpose of carrying out flood mitigation works or establishing a linear park along the River.

(2) The Land Acquisition Act, 1969-1972, applies to, and in relation to, the acquisition of land under this section.

Expiry of Act

4. This Act expires on 31 December, 1992.
