An Act to authorize certain arrangements respect­
ing Customs Duties on Goods brought into

New South Wales by and across the River

Murray. [2nd January, 1862.]
WH E R E A S b r o u g h t from t h e Colony of Vic tor ia in to th i s Colony across
cer ta in goods liable to pay du ty to th i s Colony are
t he R ive r M u r r a y u p o n which goods no dut ies are collected in th i s
Colony and i t is exped ien t to m a k e provis ion for t h e fu tu re collection

of such dut ies Be i t therefore enacted by t h e Queen ' s Mos t Excel len t Majesty by and wi th t he advice and consent of t h e Legis la t ive Counci l and Legis la t ive Assembly of N e w Sou th W a l e s in P a r l i a m e n t assem­ bled a n d by t h e au tho r i t y of t h e same as follows :—

1. The Governor wi th t h e advice of t h e Execu t ive Council may enter in to a b ind ing Trea ty wi th t h e Gove rnmen t of t h e Colony of Vic tor ia u n d e r which Trea ty all dut ies payable upon goods l iable to du ty unde r t h e N e w Sou th W a l e s Customs. Du t i e s A c t of 1855 and O p i u m Dut ies A c t of 1857 may be collected by t h e Government of Victoria and in l ieu thereof an a n n u a l s u m of an a m o u n t to be agreed on by t h e con t rac t ing par t ies m a y be paid by t h a t Gove rnmen t to t he

credi t of th i s Colony Provided tha t any such Trea ty shall no t extend
beyond t h e period of t h r ee years from t h e da te t he reo f

2. This A c t shall be styled and m a y be cited as t he " R iver

M u r r a y Cus toms A c t of 1 8 6 1 . ' '
