GORDON SAMUELS, Governor. I, the Honourable Gordon Samuels AC, Governor of the State of New South Wales, with the advice of the Executive Council, and in pursuance of section 2 (1) of the Retirement Villages Act 1999, do, by this my Proclamation, appoint 7 January 2000 as the day on which the following provisions of that Act commence:

(a) Parts 1 (section 9 excepted) and 2,
(b) sections 199, 203, 205 and 207,
(c) Schedule 3.6 [4],

(d) clause 1 of Schedule 4.

Retirement Villages Act 1999 No 81—Proclamation
Explanatory note

The object of this Proclamation is to commence provisions of the Retirement Villages Act 1999 that define terms used in the Act, provide for the application of the Act, prohibit contracting out of the provisions of the Act or the regulations made under it, enable the making of regulations for the purpose of the Act (including regulations of a savings or transitional nature) and amend the Residential Tribunal Act 1998 so as to impose a penalty for contravention of, or failure to comply with, certain orders of the Residential Tribunal.
