Repatriation Regulations2 (Amendment)

I, THE GOVERNOR-GENERAL of the Commonwealth of Australia, acting with the advice of the Federal Executive Council, hereby make the following Regulations under the Repatriation Act 1920.

Interpretation

1. In these Regulations, “Principal Regulations” means the Repatriation Regulations.

Severely incapacitated members

2. Regulation 104a of the Principal Regulations is amended—

(a) by omitting from sub-regulation (2) “$59” and substituting “$61.40”; and

(b) by omitting from sub-regulation (3) “$29.50” and substituting “$30.70”.

Funeral expenses

3. Regulation 179 of the Principal Regulations is amended by omitting “$500” (wherever occurring) and substituting “$550”.

Clothing allowance

4. Regulation 180aof the Principal Regulations is amended—

(a) by omitting from column 2 of the table in sub-regulation (1) “4.40” “2.10” “2.90” and “2.90” and substituting “4.60” “2.20” “3.00” and “3.00” respectively;

(b) by omitting from sub-regulation (2) “$4.40” (wherever occurring) and substituting “$4.60”; and

(c) by omitting from sub-regulation (4) “$54.60” and substituting “$57.20”.

South African veterans

5. Sub-regulation 197 (3) of the Principal Regulations is amended by omitting “$500” and substituting “$550”.

Application

6. (1) The amendments effected by regulation 2 apply in respect of instalments of allowance payable on or after 1 November 1984.

(2) The amendments effected by regulations 3 and 5 apply in respect of funeral expenses of persons whose deaths occur on or after 1 November 1984.

(3) The amendments effected by paragraphs 4 (a) and (b) apply in respect of allowance payable on or after 8 November 1984.

(4) The amendment effected by paragraph 4 (c) applies in respect of any amount payable on or after 8 November 1984.
