Remuneration and Allowances for Holders of Public Office and Judicial and Related Offices

  1. Pursuant to subsections 7(3) and 7(4) of the Remuneration Tribunal Act 1973, the Remuneration Tribunal has inquired into the remuneration and allowances to be paid to certain holders of public office, and other matters significantly related thereto, and determines as set out below.

(ii)        This Determination takes effect on and from the day following the day it is registered on the Federal Register of Legislation unless otherwise specified.

PART 1 – FULL-TIME OFFICES

1.1In this part, Determination Number 21 of 2015 (as amended) is referred to as the Principal Determination.

1.2Table 2A of Part 2 of the Principal Determination is amended by deleting the entries for the Chief Executive Officer, CrimTrac, Chief Executive Officer, National Health Performance Authority (NHPA) and the Commonwealth Financial Officer for Norfolk Island.

1.3Table 3A of Part 3 of the Principal Determination is amended by deleting the entry for Ms Nicole Rose, Chief Executive Officer, CrimTrac.

1.4Table 2A of Part 2 of the Principal Determination is amended by replacing “3” in Column 5 of the entry for AAT (former Member, SSAT) with “2”.

1.5Table 3A of Part 3 of the Principal Determination is amended by inserting the following entry after the entry for “Mr Nick Ryan, Chief Executive Officer, Australian Aged Care Quality Agency”.

1.9Part 2 of the Principal Determination is amended by inserting after Clause 2.2.19 the following Clause.

2.2.20Innovation and Science Australia, Chief Executive Officer: The Chief Executive Officer will receive an additional fixed loading of $50,000 for a period of three years from the date of commencement of the inaugural appointee. During this period Base Salary will be $309,180.

1.10Clauses 1.8 and 1.9 commence on 1 July 2016.

1.12Part 2 of the Principal Determination is amended by inserting after Clause 2.2.20 the following Clause.

2.2.21Northern Australian Infrastructure Facility, Chief Executive Officer: The Chief Executive Officer will receive Total Remuneration of $410,570 with Base Salary of $299,720 until 30 June 2021, during the financial assistance phase prescribed under section 8 of the Northern Australia Infrastructure Facility Act 2016.

1.13Clauses 1.11 and 1.12 commence on 1 July 2016.

PART 2 – PART-TIME OFFICES

2.1In this part, Determination Number 20 of 2015 (as amended) is referred to as the Principal Determination.

2.2Table B3 of Schedule B of the Principal Determination is amended by deleting the entry for the Australian Government Reconstruction Inspectorate.

2.3Table A of Schedule A of the Principal Determination is amended by deleting the entry for the National Health Performance Authority.

2.4Table B3 of Schedule B of the Principal Determination is amended by replacing the number 3 in Column 6 of the entry for AAT (former SSAT Member) with “2”.

2.5Table A of Schedule A of the Principal Determination is amended by replacing the current entry for the “Independent National Security Legislation Monitor” with the following and placing it after the entry for “ASC Pty Ltd”.

2.10Schedule A of the Principal Determination is amended by inserting after Clause A13 the following Clause.

A14   Northern Australian Infrastructure Facility: The Chair will receive an additional loading of $34,000 per annum until 30 June 2017. Mr Barry Coulter will receive an annual member fee of $43,825 in lieu of other amounts specified in Column 3 of Table A. 

2.11Clauses 2.9 and 2.10 commence on 1 July 2016.

PART 3 – JUDICIAL AND RELATED OFFICES

3.1       In this part, Determination Number 18 of 2015 (as amended) is referred to as the Principal Determination.

3.2Table 2A of Part 2 of the Principal Determination is amended by deleting the entry for the Assessor (Full-time), Federal Court of Australia.

3.3       Table 3 of Part 5 of the Principal Determination is amended by inserting the following entry after the entry for the “Federal Court of Australia, Chief Executive Officer”.
