Determination 2009/04:

Remuneration and Allowances for Holders of Public Office; and Members of Parliament – Entitlements and Office Holders Additional Salary

(i)        Pursuant to subsections 7(1), 7(3) and 7(4) of the Remuneration Tribunal Act 1973, the Remuneration Tribunal has inquired into the remuneration and allowances to be paid to holders of public office and members of the Parliament, and other matters significantly related thereto, and determines as set out below.

(ii)        This Determination takes effect on and from the day following the day it is registered in the Federal Register of Legislative Instruments unless otherwise specified.

PART 1 – PART-TIME OFFICES

1.1       In this part, Determination Number 7 of 2008 (as amended) is referred to as the Principal Determination.

1.2Table A1A of Schedule A of the Principal Determination is amended by deleting the entries for the following bodies: “Health Services Australia Ltd”; “Ministerial Advisory Committee on AIDS, Sexual Health and Hepatitis”.

1.3Schedule A of the Principal Determination is amended by deleting Clause A33 under “Additional Clauses to Table A1A”.

1.4Table C1A of Schedule C of the Principal Determination is amended by deleting the entry for the following body: “National Land and Water Resources Audit Advisory Council”.

1.5Table A1A of Schedule A of the Principal Determination is amended by deleting the entry for the “Higher Education Endowment Fund Advisory Board” and replacing it with the following entry:

1.6         Clause 1.5 has effect on and from 16 February 2009.

PART 2 – FULL-TIME OFFICES

2.1       In this part, Determination Number 8 of 2008 (as amended) is referred to as the Principal Determination.

2.2Table 2A of Part 2 of the Principal Determination is amended by inserting the following entry after the entry for “Chief Executive, Murray-Darling Basin Authority”:

2.4         Clauses 2.2 and 2.3 have effect on and from 16 April 2009.

PART 3 – MEMBERS OF PARLIAMENT - ENTITLEMENTS

3.1       In this part, Determination Number 18 of 2006 (as amended) is referred to as the Principal Determination.

3.2The Principal Determination is amended by deleting Clause 1.1 and replacing it with the following:

1.1A base rate of electorate allowance of $32,000 per annum is payable to each Senator and Member of the House of Representatives.

1.2A supplementary electorate allowance of $6,000 per annum, in addition to the base rate of electorate allowance, is payable to a Member of the House of Representatives representing an electorate of between 2,000km2 and 4,999km2 inclusive.

1.3A supplementary electorate allowance of $14,000 per annum, in addition to the base rate of electorate allowance, is payable to a Member of the House of Representatives representing an electorate of 5,000km2 or more.

3.3Clause 3.2 has effect on and from 1 May 2009.

PART 4 – MEMBERS OF PARLIAMENT – OFFICE HOLDERS ADDITIONAL SALARY

4.1       In this part, Determination Number 19 of 2008 is referred to as the Principal Determination.

4.2Table 1 of the Principal Determination is amended by deleting the entry for ‘Deputy Chair of a Senate Legislative and General Purpose Standing Committee’ with effect on and from 14 May 2009.
