Determination 2008/20:

Remuneration and Allowances for Holders of Public Office

(i)        Pursuant to subsections 7(3) and 7(4) of the Remuneration Tribunal Act 1973, the Remuneration Tribunal has inquired into the remuneration and allowances to be paid to holders of public office, and other matters significantly related thereto, and determines as set out below.

(ii)        This Determination takes effect on and from the day following the day it is registered in the Federal Register of Legislative Instruments unless otherwise specified.

PART 1 – PART-TIME OFFICES

1.1       In this part, Determination Number 7 of 2008 (as amended) is referred to as the Principal Determination.

1.2Clause B1.1 of Schedule B of the Principal Determination is amended by inserting the following entry after the entry for the “National Drugs and Poisons Schedule Committee”: “National Indigenous Health Equality Council”.

1.3         Clause 1.2 has effect on and from 20 August 2008.

1.4       The Principal Determination is amended by adding the following sentence to Clause A19 in the Additional Clauses to Table A1A: “In addition, when the Deputy Convenor acts as Convenor, he or she will be entitled to the remuneration and other conditions determined for the Convenor.”

1.5       Clause 1.4 has effect on and from 12 September 2008.

1.6Table A1A of Schedule A of the Principal Determination is amended by deleting the entry for the “Chief Scientist”.

1.7Clause 1.6 has effect on and from 3 November 2008.

1.8       Clause B1.1 of Schedule B of the Principal Determination is amended by replacing the current entry for “Pharmaceutical Health and Rational Use of Medicines Committee” with the following entry “National Medicines Policy Committee”.  The amended entry is to be placed in the list in alphabetical order.

PART 2 – FULL-TIME OFFICES

2.1       In this part, Determination Number 8 of 2008 (as amended) is referred to as the Principal Determination.

2.2       Table 2A of Part 2 of the Principal Determination is amended by inserting the following entry after the entry for “Senior Member, VRB”:

2.3Part 2 of the Principal Determination is amended by inserting Clause 2.9 after Clause 2.8 as follows: “2.9  Classification Board: On any occasion when the Deputy Director acts as Director, he or she will be entitled to the remuneration and other conditions determined for the Director.”

2.4       Table 2A of Part 2 of the Principal Determination is amended by inserting “2.9” in Column 5 of the entries for “Director, Classification Board” and “Deputy Director, Classification Board”.

2.5Clause 2.3 has effect on and from 12 September 2008.

2.6The definition of Total Remuneration in Clause 1.4 of Part 1 of the Principal Determination is amended by adding a new dot point immediately after the words “but does not include:” as follows: “facilities provided as business support as referred to in Part 2;”.

2.7Part 2 of the Principal Determination is amended by inserting Clause 2.10 after Clause 2.9 as follows: “2.10  Business Support: Where an Office Holder is provided with communications, information technology and other office facilities necessary for the efficient conduct of his or her office, incidental private use of those facilities by the office holder does not necessitate the value of the facilities being included in Total Remuneration.”

2.8Table 2A of Part 2 of the Principal Determination is amended by inserting the following entry after the entry for “Chairperson, Productivity Commission”:
