Members of Parliament – Travelling Allowance
Pursuant to subsections 7(1), 7(2) and 7(4) of the Remuneration Tribunal Act 1973, the Remuneration Tribunal has inquired into the travelling allowances payable within Australia and conditions of payment to members of the Parliament and Ministers of State, and determines as set out below.
PART 1 – MEMBERS OF PARLIAMENT
1.1 In this part, Determination Number 15 of 2007 is referred to as the Principal Determination.
1.2 The Principal Determination is amended by adding subclause 2.22.1 after clause 2.22 with the following wording: “2.22.1 The Chief Whips of the Government and Opposition in the House of Representatives, when travelling outside their home base and outside Canberra on duties and functions connected with their offices, shall be entitled to travelling allowance in respect of each overnight stay occasioned by such duties and functions, to a maximum of ten nights in the period up to and including 30 June 2008.”
1.3 Clause 1.2 has effect on and from the date of signature of this Determination.
