Remuneration Tribunal (Amendment) Act 1998

An Act to amend the Remuneration Tribunal Act 1995

The Legislative Assembly for the Australian Capital Territory enacts as follows:
Short title
This Act may be cited as the Remuneration Tribunal (Amendment) Act 1998.
Commencement
This Act shall be taken to have commenced on 21 February 1998.
Principal Act
In this Act, “Principal Act” means the Remuneration Tribunal Act 1995. 1
Inquiries in relation to members of the Legislative Assembly
Section 9 of the Principal Act is amended by adding at the end the following subsection:
For the purposes of paragraph (g) of the definition of ‘office’ in subsection 73 (1) of the Australian Capital Territory (Self-Government) Act 1988 of the Commonwealth, each of the following offices is declared to be an office to which section 73 of that Act applies:
(a)Leader of the Opposition in the Legislative Assembly;
(b)Deputy Leader of the Opposition in the Legislative Assembly;
(c)Government Whip in the Legislative Assembly;
(d)Opposition Whip in the Legislative Assembly;
(e)the presiding member (however designated) of a committee of the Legislative Assembly.”.
