REMUNERATION AND ALLOWANCES REGULATIONS - SECT. 1.
Citation

1. These Regulations may be cited as the Remuneration and Allowances Regulations.*1*

REMUNERATION AND ALLOWANCES REGULATIONS - SECT. 1A.
Application

Inserted by 1975 No. 137 r. 1 1A. Where provision is made in these Regulations in relation to the remuneration and annual allowance (if any) payable to the holder of a statutory office in respect of a period before 1 March 1975, that provision does not apply to the holder of that office on or after 1 March 1975.

REMUNERATION AND ALLOWANCES REGULATIONS - SECT. 2.
Remuneration and annual allowance of officer appointed full-time member of
Grants Commission

2. Where a person appointed to hold the office of full-time member of the Grants Commission was, immediately before his appointment, an officer of the Public Service and was, on 29 November 1973, the holder of the office of Secretary to the Department of Housing, he shall be paid, during the period of his appointment (including any period of re-appointment) to the office of full-time member of the Grants Commission, in lieu of the remuneration and annual allowance (if any) payable in respect of that office, remuneration and an annual allowance at the rates per annum respectively applicable to the office of Permanent Head of a Department of the Public Service other than a Department of the Parliament.

REMUNERATION AND ALLOWANCES REGULATIONS - SECT. 2A.
Remuneration and annual allowance of full-time member of Grants Commission
appointed a Royal Commissioner

Inserted by 1976 No. 179 2A. (1) Where a person appointed to hold the office of a Commissioner under the Royal Commissions Act 1902 was, immediately before his appointment, the holder of the office of a full-time member of the Grants Commission, he shall be paid, during the period of his appointment (including any period of re-appointment) to the office of a Commissioner under the Royal Commissions Act 1902, in lieu of the remuneration and annual allowance (if any) payable in respect of that office, remuneration and an annual allowance at the rates per annum applicable to the office of Permanent Head of the Department of the Capital Territory.

(2) This regulation shall be deemed to have come into operation on 1 March 1975.

REMUNERATION AND ALLOWANCES REGULATIONS - SECT. 2B.
Remuneration of unattached officer appointed Vice-Chairman of the Australian
Broadcasting Tribunal

Inserted by 1977 No. 164 Sub-reg. (1) amended by 1978 No. 30 r. 1 2B. (1) Where a person appointed to hold the office of Vice- Chairman of the Australian Broadcasting Tribunal was, immediately before his appointment, an unattached officer included in the First Division of the Australian Public Service, he shall be paid, during the period of his appointment (including any period of re-appointment) to the office of Vice-Chairman of the Australian Broadcasting Tribunal, in lieu of the remuneration and annual allowance (if any) payable in respect of that office, remuneration at the rate per annum applicable to the office of Secretary to the Department of Science.

REMUNERATION AND ALLOWANCES REGULATIONS - SECT. 2C.
Remuneration of unattached officer appointed Deputy Chairman of the Prices
Justification Tribunal

Inserted by 1977 No. 164 Sub-reg. (1) amended by 1978 No. 30 r. 2 2C. (1) Where a person appointed to hold the office of Deputy Chairman of the Prices Justification Tribunal was, immediately before his appointment, an unattached officer included in the First Division of the Australian Public Service, he shall be paid, during the period of his appointment (including any period of re-appointment) to the office of Deputy Chairman of the Prices Justification Tribunal, in lieu of the remuneration and annual allowance (if any) payable in respect of that office, remuneration at the rate per annum applicable to the office of Secretary to the Department of Science.

REMUNERATION AND ALLOWANCES REGULATIONS - SECT. 3.
Remuneration of officer appointed an Associate Commissioner of the Industries
Assistance Commission

Added by 1975 No. 31 3. (1) Where a person appointed to hold the office of Associate Commissioner of the Industries Assistance Commission was, immediately before his appointment, an officer of the Australian Public Service occupying an office of First Assistant Commissioner in the office of the Commissioner of Trade Practices, he shall be paid, during the period of his appointment (including any period of re-appointment) to the office of Associate Commissioner of the Industries Assistance Commission, in lieu of the remuneration and annual allowance (if any) payable in respect of that office, remuneration at the rate per annum applicable to an officer of the Australian Public Service occupying an office classified as Level 3 in the Second Division.

(2) This regulation shall be deemed to have come into operation on 18 March 1974.

REMUNERATION AND ALLOWANCES REGULATIONS - SECT. 4.
Remuneration of officer appointed an Associate Commissioner of the National
Capital Development Commission

Added by 1975 No. 31 4. (1) Where a person appointed to hold the office of Associate Commissioner of the National Capital Development Commission was, immediately before his appointment, an officer in the service of the National Capital Development Commission occupying the office of Secretary and Manager, he shall be paid, during the period of his appointment (including any period of re-appointment) to the office of Associate Commission of the National Capital Development Commission, in lieu of the remuneration and allowance (if any) payable in respect of that office, remuneration- (a) in respect of a day during the period from and including 19 March 1974 to and including 29 May 1974-at the rate of $20,870 per annum; and (b) in respect of 30 May 1974 or a subsequent day-at the rate of $21,417 per annum.

(2) This regulation shall be deemed to have come into operation on 19 March 1974.

REMUNERATION AND ALLOWANCES REGULATIONS - SECT. 5.
Remuneration of officer appointed a Commissioner of the Hospitals and Health
Services Commission

Added by 1975 No. 31 5. (1) Where a person appointed to hold the office of full-time Commissioner of the Hospitals and Health Services Commission was, immediately before his appointment, an officer of the Australian Public Service occupying an office of First Assistant Director-General in the Department of Health, he shall be paid, during the period of his appointment (including any period of re-appointment) to the office of full-time Commissioner of the Hospitals and Health Services Commission, in lieu of the remuneration and annual allowance (if any) payable in respect of that office, remuneration at the rate per annum applicable to an officer of the Australian Public Service occupying an office classified as Level 3 in the Second Division.

(2) This regulation shall be deemed to have come into operation on 10 April 1974.

REMUNERATION AND ALLOWANCES REGULATIONS - SECT. 6.
Remuneration of officer appointed the General Manager of the Health Insurance
Commission

Added by 1975 No. 31 6. (1) Where a person appointed to hold the office of General Manager of the Health Insurance Commission was, immediately before his appointment, an officer of the Australian Public Service occupying an office of First Assistant Director-General in the Department of Social Security, he shall be paid, during the period of his appointment (including any period of re-appointment) to the office of General Manager of the Health Insurance Commission, in lieu of the remuneration and annual allowance (if any) payable in respect of that office, remuneration at the rate per annum applicable to an officer of the Australian Public Service occupying an office classified as Level 3 in the Second Division.

(2) This regulation shall be deemed to have come into operation on 19 September 1974.

REMUNERATION AND ALLOWANCES REGULATIONS - SECT. 7.
Remuneration of officer appointed to the office of Commissioner of the
Repatriation Commission

Added by 1975 No. 31 7. (1) Where a person appointed to hold the office of Commissioner of the Repatriation Commission was, immediately before his appointment, an officer of the Australian Public Service occupying an office of First Assistant Commissioner in the Department of Repatriation and Compensation, he shall be paid, during the period of his appointment (including any period of re-appointment) to the office of Commissioner of the Repatriation Commission, in lieu of the remuneration and annual allowance (if any) payable in respect of that office, remuneration at the rate per annum applicable to an officer of the Australian Public Service occupying an office classified as Level 3 in the Second Division.

(2) This regulation shall be deemed to have come into operation on 22 November 1974.

REMUNERATION AND ALLOWANCES REGULATIONS - SECT. 8.
Remuneration of officer appointed to the office of Deputy Chairman of the
Social Welfare Commission

Added by 1975 No. 31 8. (1) Where a person appointed to hold the office of Deputy Chairman of the Social Welfare Commission was, immediately before his appointment, an officer of the Australian Public Service occupying an office of First Assistant Director-General in the Department of Social Security, he shall be paid, during the period of his appointment (including any period of re-appointment) to the office of Deputy Chairman of the Social Welfare Commission, in lieu of the remuneration and annual allowance (if any) payable in respect of that office, remuneration at the rate per annum applicable to an officer of the Australian Public Service occupying an office classified as Level 3 in the Second Division.

(2) This regulation shall be deemed to have come into operation on 22 November 1974.

REMUNERATION AND ALLOWANCES REGULATIONS - SECT. 8A.
Remuneration of officer appointed to the office of Deputy Chairman of the
Social Welfare Commission

Inserted by 1976 No. 303 8A. (1) Where a person appointed to hold the office of Deputy Chairman of the Social Welfare Commission was, immediately before his appointment, an officer of the Australian Public Service occupying an office of First Assistant Director-General in the Department of Social Security, he shall be paid, during the period of his appointment (including any period of re-appointment) to the office of Deputy Chairman of the Social Welfare Commission, in lieu of the remuneration and annual allowance (if any) payable in respect of that office, remuneration, in respect of the period commencing on 1 June 1976 and ending on 28 September 1976, at the rates per annum applicable to an officer of the Australian Public Service occupying an office classified as Level 4 in the Second Division.

(2) This regulation shall be deemed to have come into operation on 1 June 1976.

REMUNERATION AND ALLOWANCES REGULATIONS - SECT. 9.
Remuneration of Deputy Director of Export Finance and Insurance Corporation

Added by 1975 No. 31 9. (1) Where a person appointed to the office of Deputy Managing Director of the Export Finance and Insurance Corporation was, immediately before his appointment, the holder of the office of General Manager of the Export Payments Insurance Corporation, he shall be paid, during the period of his appointment to the office of Deputy Managing Director of the Export Finance and Insurance Corporation, in lieu of the remuneration and annual allowance (if any) payable in respect of that office, remuneration at the rate of $21,417 per annum.

(2) This regulation shall be deemed to have come into operation on 1 February 1975.

REMUNERATION AND ALLOWANCES REGULATIONS - SECT. 10.
Remuneration of officer appointed Chairman of the Industrial Research and
Development Grants Board

Added by 1975 No. 137 r. 2 10. (1) Where a person appointed to hold the office of Chairman of the Industrial Research and Development Grants Board was, immediately before his appointment, an officer of the Australian Public Service occupying an office classified as Class 11 in the Third Division, he shall be paid, during the period of his appointment (including any period of re-appointment) to the office of Chairman of the Industrial Research and Development Grants Board, in lieu of the remuneration and annual allowance (if any) payable in respect of that office, remuneration at the maximum rate per annum applicable to an officer of the Australian Public Service occupying an office classified as Class 11 in the Third Division.

(2) This regulation shall be deemed to have come into operation on 2 January 1974.

REMUNERATION AND ALLOWANCES REGULATIONS - SECT. 11.
Remuneration of officer appointed a full-time member of the Schools
Commission

Added by 1975 No. 137 r. 2 11. (1) Where a person appointed to hold the office of a full-time member of the Schools Commission was, immediately before his appointment, an officer of the Australian Public Service occupying an office of Senior Assistant Secretary, Office of the Schools Commission, in the Department of Education, he shall be paid, during the period of his appointment (including any period of re-appointment) to the office of a full-time member of the Schools Commission, in lieu of the remuneration and annual allowance (if any) payable in respect of that office, remuneration at the rate per annum applicable to an officer of the Australian Public Service occupying an office classified as Level 2 in the Second Division.

(2) This regulation shall be deemed to have come into operation on 20 February 1974.

REMUNERATION AND ALLOWANCES REGULATIONS - SECT. 12.
Remuneration of officer appointed Director of the Legislative Drafting
Institute

Added by 1975 No. 137 r. 2 12. (1) Where a person appointed to hold the office of Director of the Legislative Drafting Institute was, immediately before his appointment, an officer of the Australian Public Service occupying an office of First Assistant Parliamentary Counsel, he shall be paid, during the period of his appointment (including any period of re-appointment) to the office of Director of the Legislative Drafting Institute, in lieu of the remuneration and annual allowance (if any) payable in respect of that office, remuneration at the rate per annum applicable to an officer of the Australian Public Service occupying an office classified as Level 4 in the Second Division.

(2) This regulation shall be deemed to have come into operation on 9 December 1974.

REMUNERATION AND ALLOWANCES REGULATIONS - SECT. 13.
Remuneration of officer appointed Chairman of a Repatriation Board for the
State of Tasmania

Added by 1975 No. 137 r. 2 13. (1) Where a person appointed to hold the office of Chairman of a Repatriation Board for the State of Tasmania was, immediately before his appointment, an officer of the Australian Public Service occupying an office classified as Class 7 in the Third Division, he shall be paid, during the period of his appointment (including any period of re-appointment) to the office of Chairman of a Repatriation Board for the State of Tasmania, in lieu of the remuneration and annual allowance (if any) payable in respect of that office, remuneration at the minimum rate per annum applicable to an officer of the Australian Public Service occupying an office classified as Class 7 in the Third Division.

(2) This regulation shall be deemed to have come into operation on 9 December 1974.

REMUNERATION AND ALLOWANCES REGULATIONS - SECT. 14.
Remuneration of officer appointed Chairman of a Repatriation Board for the
State of South Australia

Added by 1975 No. 137 r. 2 14. (1) Where a person appointed to hold the office of Chairman of a Repatriation Board for the State of South Australia was, immediately before his appointment, an officer of the Australian Public Service occupying an office classified as Class 8 in the Third Division, he shall be paid, during the period of his appointment (including any period of re-appointment) to the office of Chairman of a Repatriation Board for the State of South Australia, in lieu of the remuneration and annual allowance (if any) payable in respect of that office, remuneration at the minimum rate per annum applicable to an officer of the Australian Public Service occupying an office classified as Class 8 in the Third Division.

(2) This regulation shall be deemed to have come into operation on 1 January 1975.

REMUNERATION AND ALLOWANCES REGULATIONS - SECT. 15.
Remuneration of officer appointed Chairman of a Repatriation Board for the
State of Western Australia

Added by 1975 No. 137 r. 2 15. (1) Where a person appointed to hold the office of Chairman of a Repatriation Board for the State of Western Australia was, immediately before his appointment, an officer of the Australian Public Service occupying an office classified as Class 9 in the Third Division, he shall be paid, during the period of his appointment (including any period of re-appointment) to the office of Chairman of a Repatriation Board for the State of Western Australia, in lieu of the remuneration and annual allowance (if any) payable in respect of that office, remuneration at the minimum rate per annum applicable to an officer of the Australian Public Service occupying an office classified as Class 9 in the Third Division.

(2) This regulation shall be deemed to have come into operation on 1 January 1975.

REMUNERATION AND ALLOWANCES REGULATIONS - SECT. 16.
Remuneration of officer appointed Chairman of the Australian Capital
Territory
Electricity Authority

Added by 1975 No. 137 r. 2 16. (1) Where a person appointed to hold the office of Chairman of the Australian Capital Territory Electricity Authority was, immediately before his appointment, an officer in the service of the Australian Capital Territory Electricity Authority occupying the office of Chief Engineer, he shall be paid, during the period of his appointment (including any period of re-appointment) to the office of Chairman of the Australian Capital Territory Electricity Authority, in lieu of the remuneration and annual allowance (if any) payable in respect of that office, remuneration at the rate of $19,597 per annum.

(2) This regulation shall be deemed to have come into operation on 23 January 1975.

REMUNERATION AND ALLOWANCES REGULATIONS - SECT. 17.
Remuneration of officer appointed Chairman of a Repatriation Board for the
State of New South Wales

Added by 1975 No. 137 r. 2 17. (1) Where a person appointed to hold the office of Chairman of a Repatriation Board for the State of New South Wales was, immediately before his appointment, an officer of the Australian Public Service occupying an office classified as Class 6 in the Third Division, he shall be paid, during the period of his appointment (including any period of re-appointment) to the office of Chairman of a Repatriation Board for the State of New South Wales, in lieu of the remuneration and annual allowance (if any) payable in respect of that office, remuneration at the maximum rate per annum applicable to an officer of the Australian Public Service occupying an office classified as Class 6 in the Third Division.

(2) This regulation shall be deemed to have come into operation on 1 February 1975.

REMUNERATION AND ALLOWANCES REGULATIONS - SECT. 18.
Remuneration of officer appointed Chairman of a Repatriation Board for the
State of New South Wales

Added by 1975 No. 137 r. 2 18. (1) Where a person appointed to hold the office of Chairman of a Repatriation Board for the State of New South Wales was, immediately before his appointment, an officer of the Australian Public Service occupying an office classified as Class 7 in the Third Division, he shall be paid, during the period of his appointment (including any period of re-appointment) to the office of Chairman of a Repatriation Board for the State of New South Wales, in lieu of the remuneration and annual allowance (if any) payable in respect of that office, remuneration at the maximum rate per annum applicable to an officer of the Australian Public Service occupying an office classified as Class 7 in the Third Division.
