I, WILLIAM PATRICK DEANE, Governor-General of the Commonwealth of Australia, acting with the advice of the Federal Executive Council, make the following Regulations under the Remuneration and Allowances Act 1990.

1Name of Regulations

 These Regulations are the Remuneration and Allowances Regulations 1999.

2Commencement

 These Regulations are taken to have commenced on 7 December 1999.

3Definition

 In these Regulations:

Act means the Remuneration and Allowances Act 1990.

4Members of Parliament – annual salary (Act, Schedule 3, clause 1)
  • (1)

    For the purposes of paragraph 1 (2) (b) of Schedule 3 to the Act, the annual salary of a Member of Parliament is worked out in accordance with this regulation.

  • (2)

    For the period starting at the commencement of this regulation and ending at the end of 30 June 2000, the annual salary is equal to 95% of the reference salary for Band A of the Principal Executive Office classification set out in Remuneration Tribunal Determination 1999/15.

  • (3)

    For the period starting on 1 July 2000, the annual salary is equal to 100% of the reference salary for Band A of the Principal Executive Office classification set out in Remuneration Tribunal Determination 1999/15.
