An Act for authorizing the Bemission of Rent amd Assessment due from

certain. Pastoral Lessees of the Crown in the Province of

South

Austra kia.

[Assented to, 16th March, 1866.1

HERXAS it is desirable to authofize the Governor to remit

certain rent and assessment due from the pastoral lessees of

the Crown hereinafter mentioned-Be it therefore Enacted, by the Governor-in-Chief of the Province of South Australia, by and with

the advice and consent of the Legislative Council and House of

Assembly of the said Province, in this present Parliament assembled, as follows:

1. I t shall be lawful for the Governor in Executive Council, within

Governor may remit

rent.

four months from the passing hereof, to remit payment of rent or rent and assessment (as the case may be) due from the pastoral

lessees of the Crown in the said Province, enumerated in the

Schedules A, B, and C, hereunto annexed, who may request

such remission within three months from the pa~sing hereof, by written notice to the Commissioner of Crown Lands and Immigra- tion, so nevertheless that no such remission shall exceed the amount of rent or rent and assessment hereinafter mentioned,

that is to say, in respect of the lessees whose names and the numbers of whose leases are mentioned and described in the said

Schedule A, six months' rent or rent and assessment; and in

respect of the lessees whose name8 md the numbers of whose

leases are mentioned and described in the said Schedule B, twelve

month$ rent or rent and assessment; and in respect of the lessees whose names and the number of whose leases are mentioned and

described in the said Schedule C, eighteen months' rent and assess- ment; Provided that any of such pastoral lessees who shall request or accept say benefit or advantage under this Act in respect of any leases contaihed in any of the schedules shall not be entitled to any benefit or advantage under or by virtue of any Act made or to be made and passed in the present Session of Parliament, for the purpose of amending the* laws relating to the leasing of the Waste

Lands of tfhe Crown for pastoral purposes, in respect of the same or any other leases containcd in the same Schedule, nor until such

lessee or lessees shall personally, or by an authorized agent, have made a declaration in the words or to the effect contained in the Schedule bereto annexed marked D,

be], I do waive and abandon all right and claim to any extension of tenure to which the lessee or lessees might otherwise have been e?titled under or by virtue of an

Act made and passed in the twenty-ninth year of the reign of H e r Majesty Queen Victoria, intituled " An Act to amend the Laws relating to the leasing of the

Waste Lands of the Crown wi th~n the Province of South Australia for Pastoral

Purposes," in respect of any lease contained in the same Schedule.
