Commencement Proclamation

under the

Relationships Register Act 2010 No 19

MARIE BASHIR, Governor I, Professor Marie Bashir AC, CVO, Governor of the State of New South Wales, with the advice of the Executive Council, and in pursuance of section 2 of the Relationships Register Act 2010, do, by this my Proclamation, appoint 1 July 2010 as the day on which the uncommenced provisions of that Act commence.

Explanatory note

The object of this Proclamation is to commence the uncommenced provisions of the Relationships Register Act 2010. Those provisions establish the scheme for registration of relationships between 2 adults who are in a relationship as a couple and provide for the recognition in this State of relationships registered in other jurisdictions that have corresponding laws.
