1992—No. 224
REGISTRATION OF INTERESTS IN GOODS ACT 1986—
REGULATION
(Authorising the release of information about faulty vehicles)
NEW SOUTH WALES
[Published in Gazette No. 55 of 1 May 1992]
HIS Excellency the Governor, with the advice of the Executive Council, and in pursuance of the Registration of Interests in Goods Act 1986, has been pleased to make the Regulation set forth hereunder.
PETER COLLINS
Minister for Consumer Affairs.
The Registration of Interests in Goods Regulation 1986 is amended by inserting after clause 5 (2) (d) the following paragraph:
| (e) | information received by the Commissioner that a motor vehicle belongs to a class of motor vehicles whose physical or mechanical state has a common fault, being information that, in the opinion of the Commissioner, should be drawn to a prospective purchaser’s attention. |
EXPLANATORY NOTE
The purpose of this Regulation is to amend the Registration of Interests in Goods Regulation 1986 to enable the Commissioner for Consumer Affairs to alert a person inquiring about a motor vehicle (through the Register kept under that Act) to information received by the Commissioner about a fault in the vehicle. If the Commissioner receives information that a vehicle belongs to a class of vehicles whose physical or mechanical state has a common fault and if, in the opinion of the Commissioner, the information should be drawn to a prospective purchaser’s attention, this Regulation will enable the Commissioner to record that information in the Register for that purpose.
