I, THE GOVERNOR-GENERAL of the Commonwealth of Australia, acting with the advice of the Federal Executive Council, hereby make the following Ordinance under the Seat of Government (Administration) Act 1910.

An Ordinance to amend the Registration of Deeds Ordinance 1957

Short title

1. This Ordinance may be cited as the Registration of Deeds (Amendment)

Ordinance 1983..'

Commencement

2. This Ordinance shall come into operation on 1 October 1983.

sub-section (1) "a fee of $24" and substituting "the determined fee".

Principal Ordinance

Deeds Ordinance 1957.2 3. In this Ordinance, "Principal Ordinance" means the Registration of

4. Section 2 of the Principal Ordinance is amended by inserting after the

definition of "deed" the following definition:

" 'determined fee' means a fee determined by the Minister under section 8

for the purposes of the provision in which the expression occurs:".

Registration of deeds

5. Section 4 of the Principal Ordinance is amended by omitting from

150 Registration of Deeds (Amendment) No. 40,1983

Certified copies

6. Section 7 of the Principal Ordinance is amended by omitting from

sub-section (1) "a fee of $1" and substituting "the determined fee".

7. After section 7 of the Principal Ordinance the following section is

inserted:

Power of Minister to determine fees

"8. The Minister may, by notice in writing published in the Gazette,

determine fees for the purposes of this Ordinance.".
