1Name

This instrument is the Registration of Deaths Abroad Amendment Regulations 2017.

2Commencement

1. (1)

   Each provision of this instrument specified in column 1 of the table commences, or is taken to have commenced, in accordance with column 2 of the table. Any other statement in column 2 has effect according to its terms.

This instrument is made under the Registration of Deaths Abroad Act 1984.

Each instrument that is specified in a Schedule to this instrument is amended or repealed as set out in the applicable items in the Schedule concerned, and any other item in a Schedule to this instrument has effect according to its terms.

Schedule 1—Amendments

Registration of Deaths Abroad Regulations 1985

Paragraph 4(a)

Omit “or to a registering officer in the country or place where the person died”.

Paragraph 4(b)

Omit “or to a registering officer at the port at which the aircraft or ship first called after that death”.

Paragraph 4(c)

Omit “or to a registering officer at the port at which the aircraft or ship first called after that death”.

Omit “or to a registering officer at the port at which the aircraft or ship first called after that disappearance became known”.

Regulation 5

Omit “registering officer”, substitute “the Registrar”.

Regulation 6

Repeal the regulation, substitute:

6Certificate of Death Abroad to be entered in the Register

For the purposes of section 16 of the Act, all particulars contained in each Certificate of Death Abroad are required to be entered in the Register.
