An Ordinance to amend the Registration of Births, Deaths and Marriages Ordinance 1963

Short title

1.  This Ordinance may be cited as the Registration of Births, Deaths and Marriages (Amendment) Ordinance 1986.1

Principal Ordinance

2.  In this Ordinance, “Principal Ordinance” means the Registration of Births, Deaths and Marriages Ordinance 1963.2

Notification where inquest dispensed with or postponed

3.  Section 31 of the Principal Ordinance is amended—

(a)by omitting “section twelve of the Coroners Ordinance 1956, with the holding” and substituting “section 12 or 34 of the Coroners Ordinance 1956, with the holding or further holding;” and

(b)by adding at the end the following sub-section:

“(2)  Where, by virtue of section 34 of the Coroners Ordinance 1956, a Coroner is required not to proceed further with an inquest, the Coroner shall notify the Registrar accordingly and shall give the Registrar, with that notification, such of the particulars referred to in sub-section 30 (1) as are known to the Coroner.”.

4.  Section 32 of the Principal Ordinance is amended by omitting “the cause” and “the holding of” and substituting “particulars of the cause” and “the holding or further holding of, or is not to proceed further with,” respectively.
