T )E it enacted by the King’s Most Excellent Majesty, f l by and with the advice and consent of the Legis­ lative Council and Legislative Assembly of New South Wales in Parliament assembled, and by the authority of the same, as follows :—

Short title. 1. This Act may be cited as the “ Eegistration of

Births, Deaths, and INfarriages (Amendment) Act, 1948” .

Amendment

of 2 . (1) Tlie Eegistration of Births, Deaths, and

Act No. 17,	Marriages Act, 1899-1946, is amended by omitting from
1899, see. 6.	subsection one of section six the words “ except for the
(District
registrars.)	district of Sydney” .
(2) The Registration of Birtlis Deaths and Mar­ riages Act 1899, as amended by subsequent Acts and by this section, may be cited as the Registration of Births, Deaths, and Marriages Act, 1899-1948.

of Act 3. (1) The Marriage Act, 1899, as amended by subse­

No. 15, 1899.	quent Acts, is amended by inserting in Part I next after
New sec. 2a.	section two the following new section:—

Definition. 2a . In this Act unless the context or subject

matter otherwise indicates or requires—

“ District registrar” means and shall be deemed always to have meant any district registrar, deputy district registrar, or assistant district registrar.

(2) The Marriage Act, 1899, as amended by subse­ quent Acts and by this section, may be cited as the Marriage Act, 1899-1948.
