An Act to amend section 46 of the Registration of Births, Deaths and Marriages Act 1973 with respect to the register of adoptions kept under that Act. [Assented to 4 December 1987]

Registration of Births, Deaths and Marriages (Adoption) Amendment 1987

The Legislature of New South Wales enacts:

Short title

1. This Act may be cited as the Registration o f Births, Deaths and

Marriages (Adoption) Amendment Act 1987.

Amendment of Act No. 87, 1973

2. The Registration of Births, Deaths and Marriages Act 1973 is

amended as set out in Schedule 1.

SCHEDULE 1—AMENDMENTS TO THE REGISTRATION OF

BIRTHS, DEATHS AND MARRIAGES ACT 1973

(Sec. 2)

Section 46 (Copy of recording in register of adoptions)—

(1) Section 46 (1) (a)—

Omit the paragraph, insert instead:

(a) the Department Head of the Department of Youth and Community Services, or another officer of that Department authorised by the Department Head, so consents in writing;

(2) Section 46 (2)—

Omit “the Department Head of the Department of Youth and Community Services gives his consent” , insert instead “the Department Head of the Department of Youth and Community Services, or another officer of that Department authorised by the Department Head, consents”.
