His Excellency the Governor, with the advice of the Executive Council, has made the following Regulation under the Registered Clubs Act 1976.

Explanatory note
The object of this Regulation is to require certain signs to be displayed on registered club premises in which approved gaming devices are situated and on those devices themselves, being signs relating to the chances of winning major prizes by playing those devices.
This Regulation is made under the Registered Clubs Act 1976, including section
44C and section 73 (the general regulation-making power).

Regulation 2000
1 Name of Regulation
This Regulation is the Registered Clubs Amendment (Gambling
Signage) Regulation 2000.
2 Commencement
This Regulation commences on 14 August 2000.
3 Amendment of Registered Clubs Regulation 1996
The Registered Clubs Regulation 1996 is amended as set out in
Schedule 1.

The explanatory note does not form part of this Regulation.

Clause 30H
Insert after clause 30G:
30H Display of information concerning chances of winning prizes on
approved gaming devices
(1)
A registered club must display, in accordance with this clause, notices providing information about the chances of winning a major prize from the use or operation of any approved gaming device in the registered club.
Maximum penalty: 50 penalty units.
(2) The information contained in the notices must be in the
following form: machine is generally no better than one in a million.
(3) The notices must be:
(a)
displayed in each part of the premises of the registered club where approved gaming devices are located in such manner and in such a place that it would be reasonable to expect that a person entering the part of the premises of the registered club in which the notices are displayed would be alerted to their contents, and
(b)
prominently displayed on the front or top of each approved gaming device kept in the registered club or displayed by means of a permanently visible light emitting display that forms part of each such device.
(4) The matter contained in a notice must be:
(a)
in the case of a notice displayed as referred to in subclause (3) (a)—in letters and figures of not less than one centimetre in height, and
(b)
in the case of a notice displayed as referred to in subclause (3) (b)—in letters of not less than 0.4 centimetres in height.
