Decision

  1. The Queensland Racing and Integrity Commission (QRIC), an entity established by the Racing Integrity Act 2016, has made an Application to vary the General Employees (Queensland Government Departments) and Other Employees Award - State 2015 (the Award) to include new and varied provisions to accommodate the special circumstances under which its race day and field staff employees are required to work.

  2. The proposed variations are primarily designed to ensure that race day and field staff employees now employed by QRIC, who were previously Award-free, continue to receive benefits and entitlements they previously received pursuant to common law contracts.

  3. The proposed variations have been negotiated with, and are agreed to by, The Australian Workers’ Union of Employees, Queensland and Together Queensland, Industrial Union of Employees, respectively.

  4. On the basis that there is consent between all of the relevant parties to vary the Award the Commission issues the following Orders:

1.the General Employees (Queensland Government Departments) and Other Employees Award - State 2015 be varied in the terms set out in the attached Consent Order; and

2.the variations to the Award operate on and from 27 July 2017.
