REGULATIONS - REG 1.
Citation

PART I-PRELIMINARY

1. These Regulations may be cited as the Re-establishment and Employment (Conditions of Entry into Employment) Regulations.*1*

REGULATIONS - REG 2.
Parts

Amended by 1948 No. 16 r. 1 2. These Regulations are divided into Parts, as follows: Part I- Preliminary Part II- Electrical Linesmen, Queensland Part III- Architects, South Australia Part IV- Electrical Fitters and Electrical Mechanics, Queensland.

REGULATIONS - REG 3.
Interpretation

PART II-ELECTRICAL LINESMEN, QUEENSLAND

3. In this Part, unless the contrary intention appears- "electrical linesman" means a person who is engaged in overhead construction and maintenance work and running, fixing, connecting or maintaining electrical conductors outside of buildings; "electrical work" means all work done in connexion with the installation and repair of electric lines, meters, accumulators, fittings, and apparatus for the generation, transmission or supply of electrical energy; "the Board" means the Electrical Workers Board appointed under the Electrical Workers' Acts, 1927 to 1931 of the State of Queensland.

REGULATIONS - REG 4.
Course of training of discharged members of Forces

4. (1) The Brisbane City Council and any other Queensland Electric Supply Authority approved by the Minister may establish a training school for the purpose of training discharged members of the Forces to become electrical linesmen and may employ those members on appropriate electrical work included in the course of training.

(2) The course of training at every such school shall be approved by the Board, and the numbers and standards of the examinations for which candidates shall sit during, and at the completion of, the course shall be approved by the Board which may, if it thinks fit, give directions as to the manner in which those examinations shall be conducted.

REGULATIONS - REG 5.
Application for certificate of competency

5. Any discharged member of the Forces who has completed the course of training approved by the Board and passed all relevant examinations in connexion therewith and who has also had not less than six months' experience on electrical line construction or on repairing work may apply to the Board for a certificate of competency.

REGULATIONS - REG 6.
Grant of certificate of competency

6. The Board may grant to any such applicant who satisfies it that he possesses the necessary practical and theoretical knowledge, skill and intelligence to perform the duties which the holder of a certificate of competency is permitted to carry out, a certificate of competency as an electrical linesman under and for the purposes of the Electrical Workers' Acts, 1927 to 1931 of the State of Queensland as modified by these Regulations.

REGULATIONS - REG 7.
Effect of grant of certificate of competency

7. A certificate of competency as an electrical linesman granted in pursuance of these Regulations shall be deemed to be a certificate of competency as an electrical linesman under and for the purposes of the Electrical Workers' Acts, 1927 to 1931 of the State of Queensland and the person who is the holder of such a certificate may carry on or engage or be employed or act in the calling or occupation of an electrical linesman in the State of Queensland.

Qualification for registration as an architect

PART III-ARCHITECTS, SOUTH AUSTRALIA

8. The requirements of the Architects Act, 1939 of the State of South Australia are modified, in relation to discharged members of the Forces, to the extent that section 32 of that Act shall be read as if the following paragraph were included therein: "(e) that he has completed a course of study in architectural subjects approved by the board and has had three years' practical experience in the work of an architect. ".

Interpretation

PART IV-ELECTRICAL FITTERS AND ELECTRICAL MECHANICS, QUEENSLAND

Part IV added by 1948 No. 16 r. 2 Added by 1948 No. 16 r. 2 9. (1) In this Part, unless the contrary intention appears- "probationary tradesman" and "trainee tradesman" have the same meanings as those expressions have in Part V of the Tradesmen's Rights Regulation Act 1946; "the Local Committee" means the Local (Electrical Trades) Committee appointed in the State of Queensland in pursuance of the Tradesmen's Rights Regulation Act 1946;

(2) Expressions used in this Part shall, unless the contrary intention appears, have the same meaning as those expressions have in the Electrical Workers Acts, 1927 to 1931 of the State of Queensland.

REGULATIONS - REG 10.
Approved employers may employ certain discharged members as electrical
fitters
or mechanics

Added by 1948 No. 16 r. 2 10. An employer approved by the Local Committee may employ as an electrical fitter or electrical mechanic a discharged member of the Forces whose employment as a probationary or trainee tradesman has been authorized by the Local Committee and may train him in a manner approved by the Local Committee and the Board with a view to his applying to the Board for a certificate of competency as an electrical fitter or electric mechanic.

REGULATIONS - REG 11.
Probationary or trainee tradesman may apply for, and Board may grant,
certificate of competency

Added by 1948 No. 16 r. 2 11. (1) A probationary or trainee tradesman who has been trained in accordance with regulation 10 of these Regulations and has passed, to the satisfaction of the Board, an examination prescribed and conducted by the Board or a member of the Forces who has been issued with a certificate of recognition as a recognized tradesman electrical fitter or electrical mechanic in pursuance of the Tradesmen's Rights Regulation Act 1946, may apply to the Board for a certificate of competency as an electrical fitter or electrical mechanic.

(2) The Board may grant a certificate of competency as an electrical fitter or electrical mechanic to an applicant who satisfies the Board that he possesses the necessary practical and theoretical knowledge, skill and intelligence to perform the work which the holder of a certificate is permitted to perform.

REGULATIONS - REG 12.
Person granted certificate of competency entitled to enter occupation of
electrical fitter or electrical mechanic

Added by 1948 No. 16 r. 2 12. (1) A person who has been granted a certificate of competency under the last preceding regulation shall be entitled to carry on or engage or be employed or act in the calling or occupation of an electrical fitter or electrical mechanic in the State of Queensland.

(2) The provisions of the Electrical Workers Acts, 1927-1931 of the State of Queensland shall, subject to these Regulations, apply in relation to any such certificate as if it were a certificate of competency granted under that Act.
