REGULATIONS UNDER THE RAW COTTON BOUNTY ACT 1934-1935.*

I, THE GOVERNOR-GENERAL in and over the Commonwealth of Australia, acting with the advice of the Federal Executive Council, hereby make the following Regulations under the Raw Cotton Bounty Act 1934-1935.

Amendments of the Raw Cotton Bounty Regulations. 

Grading of raw cotton.

1. Regulation 3 of the Raw Cotton Bounty Regulations is amended by omitting sub-regulation (1.) and inserting the following sub-regulation in its stead:—

“(1.) For the purposes of the Act and of these Regulations, raw cotton shall, subject to the next succeeding sub-regulation, be graded into the following grades:—

White Cotton

Bounty is payable on these grades at full rates.

Middling Fair

Strict Good Middling

Good Middling

Strict Middling

Middling

Strict Low Middling

Bounty is payable on these grades at half rates.

Low Middling

Strict Good Ordinary

Good Ordinary

Light Spotted Cotton

Bounty is payable on these grades at full rates.

Strict Good Middling Light Spotted

Good Middling Light Spotted

Strict Middling Light Spotted

Middling Light Spotted

Strict Low Middling Light Spotted

Low Middling Light Spotted

Bounty is payable on these grades at full rates.

2. After regulation 5 of the Raw Cotton Bounty Regulations the following regulation is inserted:—

Distribution of bounty for 1935 season.

“5a.Notwithstanding anything in the last preceding regulation) where, in respect of bounty on raw cotton produced in the year ending on the thirtieth day of November, 1935—

(a) a producer has made a first distribution to growers of seed cotton from which raw cotton, upon which bounty has been paid under the Act, has been produced) of not less than ninety per centum of the amount of bounty received by that producer; and

(b) that distribution was calculated on a percentage yield of raw cotton produced from seed cotton,

the producer shall, within ninety days after the completion of his production of raw cotton during that year, make a final distribution to those growers of the bounty received by the producer and remaining to be distributed, and the amount to be paid to each grower in respect of the final distribution shall, in respect of each variety of raw cotton, be an amount ascertained in accordance with the following formula:—

A = the amount of the final distribution to be made to the grower in respect of the variety of raw cotton;

a = the total amount of raw cotton of that variety produced from seed cotton delivered by the grower, calculated on the percentage yield referred to in paragraph (b) of this regulation;

b = the total amount of raw cotton of that variety on which bounty has been received by the producer;

c = the average actual percentage yield in that year of all raw cotton of that variety produced from seed cotton;

d = the percentage yield of raw cotton produced from seed cotton of that variety referred to in paragraph (b)of this regulation; and

e= the total amount of bounty remaining to be distributed by the producer in respect of that variety of raw cotton.”.
