AN ORDINANCE
To amend the Rates Ordinance 1926.
I, T H E GOVERNOR-GENERAL of the Commonwealth of Australia, acting with the advice of the Federal Executive Council, hereby make the following Ordinance under the Seat of Government (Adminis tration) Act 1910.

RATES (AMENDMENT) ORDINANCE (No. 2) 1977
1. This Ordinance may be cited as the Rates (Amendment)
Ordinance (No. 2) 1977.*
2. In this Ordinance, "Principal Ordinance" means the Rates

3. (1) This Ordinance, other than sub-section 5 ( 1 ) , shall come into operation on the date on which this Ordinance is notified in the Gazette.
(2) Sub-section 5 (1) shall come into operation on such date as is fixed by the Minister by notice in the Gazette.

4 . Section 10 of the Principal Ordinance is amended by omitting
from paragraph (1) (a) the words " a n er ror" and substituting the
words " a clerical error ".
5. (1) Section 30 of the Principal Ordinance is repealed.
(2) Sections 30A to 32 (inclusive) of the Principal Ordinance are repealed and the following section substituted:—
" 30. (1) Application may be made to the Tribunal for a review of a decision of the Minister varying or confirming a determination under section 29.

" ( 2 ) In sub-section ( 1 ) , ' T r i b u n a l ' means the Administrative
Appeals Tribunal established by the Administrative Appeals Tribunal Act 1975.". 6. Section 33 of the Principal Ordinance is amended—
(a)
by omitting the words ", a request under section thirty of this Ordinance, or an appeal under the last preceding section,"; and
(b) by omitting the words ", request or appeal".
7. Section 34 of the Principal Ordinance is amended by omitting from sub-sections (1) and (2) the words " a request under section thirty of this Ordinance or an appeal under section thirty-two of this Ordinance,".
8 . The Principal Ordinance is amended as set out in the Schedule. 9. (1 ) The Principal Ordinance, as amended by this Ordinance, applies to and in relation to a decision of the Minister under section 29 of the Principal Ordinance, as amended by this Ordinance.
(2) The Principal Ordinance, as in force immediately before the commencement of this section, continues to apply to and in relation to an appeal instituted under section 30A of the Principal Ordinance, as in force immediately before the commencement of this section.
