540 wluzlls1it2t^ ANNO VICESIMO QUINTO ELIZABETHAE SECUNDAE REGINAE No. 59 of 1976 An Act to amend the Railways Act 1914-1972 in certain particulars [ASSENTED TO 3RD NOVEMBER, 1976] BE IT ENACTED by the Queen's Most Excellent Majesty, by and with the advice and consent of the Legislative Assembly of Queensland in Parliament assembled, and by the authority of the same , as follows:- 1. Short title and citation . (1) This Act may be cited as the Railways Act Amendment Act 1976. (2) The Railways Act 1914-1972 is in this Act referred to as the Principal Act. (3) The Principal Act as subsequently amended and as amended by this Act may be cited as the Railways Act 1914-1976. 2. Amendment of s. 5. Section 5 of the Principal Act is amended by omitting the definition " Secretary " and substituting the following definition:- " " Secretary "-The Deputy Commissioner and Secretary to the Commissioner for Railways appointed pursuant to section 17(1);".

Section 16 of the Principal Act is amended by omitting from the first paragraph the words " Chief Engineer, Secretary " and substituting the words " Secretary, all Assistant Commissioners for Railways, the Chief Engineer ". 4. Amendment of s. 17. Section 17 of the Principal Act is amended by- (a) in subsection (1), omitting from the first paragraph the words " a Secretary " and substituting the words " a Deputy Commissioner and Secretary to the Commissioner for Railways "; (b) in subsection (2), inserting after the words " and employ " the words " Assistant Commissioners for Railways,". 5. Amendment of s. 21. Section 21 of the Principal Act is amended by omitting from subsection (5) the words " Secretary to the Commissioner for Railways " and substituting the words " Deputy Commissioner and Secretary to the Commissioner for Railways, Assistant Commissioners for Railways ".
