AN ACT to amend " The Railways Act, 1873."

[Assented to, 17th August, 1877.]

WHEREAS it is by "The Railways Act, 1873," provided .that

re amble.

no railway shall be opened for public traffic until the Commissioner of Crown Lands has certified, by notice to that effect in the Government Gazette, that such railway may safely be used for public traffic; and whereas it is expedient to make the Director of Public Works or some other officer appointed in that behalf by the Governor the proper person to certify as aforesaid, in lieu of the Commissioner of Crown Lands; Be it therefore enacted by His Excellency the Governor of Western Australia and its Dependencies, by and with the advice and consent of the Legislative Council thereof, as follows:—

Railways Act, 1873—Amendment.

Amendment of sec. 12 of 1 SECTION twelve of " The Railways Act, 1873," is hereby 37 Wet., No. 20. amended by inserting the words "Director of Public Works or

other officer appointed in that behalf by the Governor," in lieu of

the words " Commissioner of Crown Lands."

this Act.
