Radiocommunications Standard (Short Range Devices) No. 1 of 1996

I, CHRISTINE MARY GOODE, Spectrum Manager, acting on behalf of the Spectrum Management Agency, make the following Standard under subsection 162 (1) of the Radiocommunications Act 1992.

Citation

1.   This Standard may be cited as the Radiocommunications Standard (Short Range Devices) No. 1 of 1996.

[NOTE: This Standard commences on gazettal: see Radiocommunications Act 1992, s. 164.]

Definitions

2.   In this instrument:

“short range device” means any of the kinds of radiocommunications device referred to in column 2 of Table ZZ1 of Australian Standard AS 4268.2—1995 that is capable of being operated on carrier frequencies within the frequency bands referred to in column 3 of that Table;

“the Act” means the Radiocommunications Act 1992.

Standard for certain devices operating at frequencies between 25 MHz and 25 GHz

3.   (1)    For paragraph 162 (1) (a) of the Act, the standard for the performance of a short range device is the standard set out in Australian Standard AS 4268.2—1995 as in force when this Standard commences, other than the following provisions:

(a)   the provisions under the heading “FOREWORD”;

(b)   the second, third and ninth paragraphs of the provisions under the heading “INTRODUCTION”;

(c)   the heading:

“1             Scope”;

and the provisions under that heading;

(d)   subclause 4.2.4;

(e)   clause 4.5;

(f)   the heading:

“9             Measurement uncertainty”;

and the provisions under that heading;

(g)   Annex A;

(h)   columns 8 of items 1 to 18 (inclusive) of Table ZZ1.

(2)   For the application of that Australian Standard, the Standard is modified as set out in the following Table.
