ANNO SEXTO DECIMO ELIZABETHAE SECUNDAE REGINAE No. 18 of 1967 An Act to Amend "The Radioactive Substances Act of 1958" in certain particulars [ASSENTED TO 7TH APRIL, 1967 BE IT ENACTED by the Queen's Most Excellent Majesty, by and with the advice and consent of the Legislative Assembly of Queensland in Parliament assembled, and by the authority of the same, as follows:- 1. (1) Short title . This Act may be cited as " The Radioactive Substances Act Amendment Act of 1967." (2) Principal Act. " The Radioactive Substances Act of 1958 " is in this Act referred to as the Principal Act. (3) Collective title. The Principal Act and this Act may be collectively cited as " The Radioactive Substances Acts, 1958 to 1967."

The Principal Act is amended by omitting the word " license " and the word licenses " wherever either word is used as a noun and inserting in its stead, where so omitted, the word " licence " or, as the case may he, the word " licences ". 3. Amendment to s. 13 . Section thirteen of the Principal Act is amended by, in subsection (2), omitting all words from and including the words " is acting " to the end of the subsection and inserting in their stead the words " is a person who, in the case of possession only of such substance, has such possession only for the purpose of acting or, in any other case, is acting under the supervision and instruction or upon the request made directly to him of a medical practitioner or dentist so licensed, such supervision and instruction being given or such request being made by such medical practitioner or dentist in his practice as such 4. Amendments to s. 14 . Section fourteen of the Principal Act is amended by omitting subsections (2) and (3) and inserting in their stead the following subsections:- " (2) No person shall have in his possession for use on or for the purpose of treating a human being or use or attempt to use on or for the purpose of treating a human being an irradiating apparatus unless he is- (a) A medical practitioner or dentist who has possession of or uses or attempts to use such apparatus in his practice as such and who holds a licence granted to him under this Act authorizing him so to do; or (b) A person who, in the case of possession only of such apparatus, has such possession only for the purpose of acting or, in any other case, is acting under the supervision and instruction or upon the request made directly to him of a medical practitioner or dentist lawfully entitled to use such apparatus for the use or purpose in question, such supervision and instruction being given or such request being made by such medical practitioner or dentist in his practice as such. (3) No provision of this section shall be construed to require a person who has possession of or uses or attempts to use an irradiating apparatus for the sole purpose of diagnostic radiography in the course of his profession or occupation to hold a licence under this Act if he is- (a) A medical practitioner, dentist or registered veterinary surgeon: or (b) A person who, in the case of possession only of such apparatus, has such possession only for the purpose of acting or, in any other case, is acting under the supervision and instruction or upon the request made directly to him of a medical practitioner, dentist or registered veterinary surgeon such supervision and instruction being given or such request being made by such medical practitioner. dentist or registered veterinary surgeon in his practice as such." 5. Amendments in relation to decimal currency . The Principal Act is amended as set out in the Schedule to this Act. 5
