Radiation Protection and Control (Licences and Registration) Amendment Act 2011

An Act to amend the Radiation Protection and Control Act 1982.

The Parliament of South Australia enacts as follows:

Part 1Preliminary1Short title

This Act may be cited as the Radiation Protection and Control (Licences and Registration) Amendment Act 2011.

2Commencement

This Act will come into operation on a day to be fixed by proclamation.

3Amendment provisions

In this Act, a provision under a heading referring to the amendment of a specified Act amends the Act so specified.

Part 2Amendment of Radiation Protection and Control Act 19824Amendment of section 5 – Interpretation

Section 5, definition of mining, paragraph (h)—delete "excavation" and substitute:

5Amendment of section 28 – Licence to use or handle radioactive substances

Section 28(2)—delete subsection (2) and substitute:

    Subsection (1) does not apply to a person or substance of a prescribed class.

6Amendment of section 29 – Registration of premises in which unsealed radioactive substances are handled or kept

Section 29(3)—delete subsection (3) and substitute:

  1. (3)

    Subsection (1) does not apply to premises or a substance of a prescribed class.
