I, Rear Admiral PETER ROSS SINCLAIR, A.C., Governor of the State of New South Wales, with the advice of the Executive Council, and in pursuance of section 2 of the Radiation Control Act 1990, do, by this my Proclamation, appoint 1 September 1993 as the day on which the uncommenced provisions of that Act (except section 8) commence.

GOD SAVE THE QUEEN! EXPLANATORY NOTE
The object of this Proclamation is to commence the uncommenced provisions of the Radiation Control Act 1990 (except section 8 which deals with the responsibilities of occupiers of premises on which unsealed radioactive sources are kept). Those provisions deal, in particular, with the regulation of the sale, use and disposal of radioactive substances and radiation apparatus and with situations involving the possible exposure of persons or premises to radioactivity.

Sections 1–4, 29–31 and 34 of that Act and Schedule 1 to that Act commenced by Proclamation on 2 November 1990.
Sections 40, 43 (2) and 44 of that Act and Schedule 2 to that Act commenced by Proclamation on 14 December 1990.
