Racing (Totalizator Betting) Amendment Regulations 2006

I, the Governor in and over the State of Tasmania and its Dependencies in the Commonwealth of Australia, acting with the advice of the Executive Council, make the following regulations under the Racing (Totalizator Betting) Act 1952 .19 June 2006

1Short titleThese regulations may be cited as the Racing (Totalizator Betting) Amendment Regulations 2006 . 2CommencementThese regulations take effect 14 days after the day on which their making is notified in the Gazette. 3Principal RegulationsIn these regulations, the Racing (Totalizator Betting) Regulations 1976 are referred to as the Principal Regulations. 4Part IV: Division XIII heading amendedThe heading to Division XIII of Part IV of the Principal Regulations is amended by omitting "horse or greyhound". 5Regulation 122QA amended (Interpretation)Regulation 122QA(1) of the Principal Regulations is amended by omitting the definition of "racing game" and substituting the following definition: racing game means a game approved by the Minister – (a) in which a race involving competitors of any kind is simulated by means of computer-generated images displayed on one or more video monitors; and (b) in respect of which fixed odds are offered to persons betting on selected competitors against those selections winning or being placed second or third in the race; and (c) in respect of which the chance of a selected competitor filling a place is governed by the odds offered against that selection; 6Regulation 122QD amended (Bet types)Regulation 122QD of the Principal Regulations is amended as follows:  (a) by omitting from paragraph (a) "a horse or greyhound" and substituting "a competitor"; (b) by omitting from paragraph (b) "2 horses or greyhounds" and substituting "2 competitors"; (c) by omitting from paragraph (c) "3 horses or greyhounds" and substituting "3 competitors"; (d) by omitting from paragraph (d) "a horse or greyhound" and substituting "a competitor".
