1. Objectives
The objectives of these Regulations are to—
(a) members of the Bookmakers and
prescribe fees and expenses payable to Committee; and
(b) authorise persons who may witness the signing of certificates for bookmakers, bookmakers' clerks and bookmakers' course agents; and
(c) prescribe forms relating to the registration of bookmakers' course agents.
2. Authorising provisions
These Regulations are made under sections 85(3), 86, 87, 87A, 89(2)(a), 90(1) and 95 of the Racing Act 1958.
3. Revocation
The Regulations listed in Schedule 1 are revoked.
4. Definition
In the Regulations, "the Act" means the Racing
Act 1958.

For the purposes of section 85(3) of the Act, the
prescribed fee payable to members of theCommittee is—

(a) in the case of the chairman, an annual fee of substituted by $6430; and

Reg. 5(b)(b) in the case of each other member, $130 for substituted by each meeting attended.

reg. 3. 6. Committee members' expenses
For the purposes of section 85(3) of the Act, the prescribed expenses payable to members of the Committee are the expenses prescribed for
officers (other than chief administrators) in Part 4 of Group III of the Public Service Determinations 1985 as in force immediately before their expiry.
7. Authorised witness
For the purposes of section 90(1) of the Act, a person is authorised to witness the signing of a certificate of registration as a bookmaker or a
bookmakers' clerk or a bookmaker's course agent,
if the person—
(a)
is authorised under the Evidence Act 1958 to witness the signing of a statutory declaration; and
(b)
personally knows the person to whom the certificate has been issued.

8. Certificate of registration as a bookmaker
(1) For the purposes of section 86(1) of the Act, the
prescribed form for an application for a certificate
of registration as a bookmaker is Form A inSchedule 2.
(2) For the purposes of section 86(3) of the Act, the
prescribed form for a certificate of registration as
a bookmaker is Form B in Schedule 2.
9. Temporary certificate of registration as a bookmaker
For the purposes of section 86(3) of the Act, the prescribed form for an application for a temporary certificate of registration as a bookmaker is Form C in Schedule 2 and the prescribed form for a temporary certificate is Form D in Schedule 2.
10. Certificate of registration as a bookmaker's clerk
(1) For the purposes of section 87(1) of the Act, the
prescribed form for an application for a certificate of registration as a bookmaker's clerk is Form E in Schedule 2.
(2) For the purposes of section 87(3) of the Act, the
prescribed form for a certificate of registration as
a bookmaker's clerk is Form F in Schedule 2.11. Certificate of registration as a bookmaker's course agent
(1) For the purposes of section 87A(1) of the Act, the prescribed form for an application for a certificate of registration as a bookmaker's course agent is
Form G in Schedule 2.
(2) For the purposes of section 87A(3) of the Act, the prescribed form for a certificate of registration as a bookmaker's course agent is Form H in Schedule
2.

For the purposes of section 89(2)(a) of the Act—
(a) the prescribed form for an application for a replacement certificate of registration as a bookmaker or a bookmaker's clerk or a bookmaker's course agent is Form I in Schedule 2; and (b) the prescribed form for a replacement certificate of registration— (i) as a bookmaker is Form B in Schedule 2; and
(ii) as a bookmaker's clerk is Form F in Schedule 2; and
(iii) as a bookmaker's course agent is Form H in Schedule 2.

1. General Information
The Racing (Bookmakers) Regulations 1994, S.R. No. 2/1994 were made on
4 January 1994 by the Governor in Council under sections 85(3), 86, 87,
87A, 89(2)(a), 90(1) and 95 of the Racing Act 1958, No. 6353/1958 and
came into operation on 4 January 1994.The Racing (Bookmakers) Regulations 1994 will sunset 10 years after the
day of making on 4 January 2004 (see section 5 of the Subordinate
Legislation Act 1994).
