Racecourses (Amendment) Act 1976 (ACT)

AN ORDINANCE

To amend the Racecourses Ordinance 1935.

I, THE GOVERNOR-GENERAL of the Commonwealth of Australia, acting with the advice of the Federal Executive Council, hereby make the following Ordinance under the Seat of Government (Administra­ tion) Act 1910.

RACECOURSES (AMENDMENT) ORDINANCE 1976

1. This Ordinance may be cited as the Racecourses (Amendment)

Ordinance 1976.*

2. In this Ordinance, " Principal Ordinance" means the Race­ courses Ordinance 1935.f

3 . Section 3 of the Principal Ordinance is amended by omitting

from the definition of " Race-meeting " the words " trotting contests "
and substituting the word " trotting-racing ".

4. Section 5 of the Principal Ordinance is amended by omitting the words " held on any racecourse " and substituting the words " held on a racecourse, being a racecourse the running ground of which does not consist of a straight course, ".

5. Section 7 of the Principal Ordinance is amended by omitting from sub-section (3) the words " T w o dollars" and substituting the symbol and figures " $25 ".

6. Section 7A of the Principal Ordinance is amended by omitting from sub-section (3) the words " T w o dollars" and substituting the symbol and figures " $25 ".

7. Section 8 of the Principal Ordinance is amended by omitting

from sub-section (1) the words "or contests" (wherever occurring).

8. The Principal Ordinance is amended as set out in the Schedule.
