Treweeke Memorial for Soldiers at Goondiwindi. [ASSENTED TO 26TH NOVEMBER, 1953.] HEREAS in the year one thousand nine hundred Preamble. 'VAT and twenty-three, the freehold land described in the Schedule to this Act was, by Nomination of Trustees registered in the office of the Registrar of Titles at Brisbane as Number 889795, transferred to and vested in trustees on trusts whereby it was provided that the said land be appropriated and used, under the name of the "R. H. Treweeke Memorial for Soldiers ", for the advantage and benefit of all residents of the Goondiwindi District who had enlisted for active service during World War I or who might so enlist in any future war in which Great Britain would be concerned and that, if at any future time there should be less than six returned soldiers living in the Goondiwindi District, then the trustees were to hold the said lands upon trust to transfer the same absolutely to the Methodist Church: AND WHEREAS, subsequent to the execution of the aforementioned Nomination of Trustees, the Goondiwindi Sub-Branch of The Returned Sailors Soldiers, and Airmen's Imperial League of Australia, Queensland Branch, was formed and that Sub-Branch has heretofore expended large sums of money .in improving the said land and presently proposes to expend further large sums of money in further improvements thereto with a view to providing thereon a Club for members of the said League: AND WHEREAS the said Sub-Branch is desirous that, before it incurs further expenditure as aforesaid, the said land and other property of the R. H. Treweeke Memorial for Soldiers be transferred to that Sub-Branch:

II., AND WHEREAS the Methodist Church of Australasia, Queensland Conference, has agreed to such transfer: AND WHEREAS it is desirable to effect such transfer— Be it therefore enacted by the Queen's Most Excellent Majesty, by and with the advice and consent of the Legislative Assembly of Queensland in Parliament assembled, and by the authority of the same, as follows :— Short title. 1. This Act may be cited as " The R. H. Treweeke Memorial for Soldiers Transfer Act of 1953." oTPfrreotwhpeeeerRtkye. Treweeke Memorial for Soldiers tfroarnSsofeldrrieerds shall, as from the date of such passing, by virtue of this to the Act, without any transfer, conveyance or assignment GSuobo-nBdriwanicnhdi except as otherwise provided in this section be divested of the from the trustees of the same and vest in the Goondiwindi R.S.S.A.I.L.A. Sub-Branch of The Returned Sailors, Soldiers, and Airmen's Imperial League of Australia, Queensland Branch, upon the trusts for which the said Sub-Branch may hold lands and other property under and subject to the constitution, rules and by-laws of the said League, but absolutely freed and discharged from the trusts upon and subject to which such lands and other property have heretofore been held. (2.) The surviving trustees under the said Nomination of Trustees of the land described in the Schedule to this Act may (and are hereby authorised to) by a Nomination of Trustees duly made and executed in accordance with the provisions of *" The Real Property Acts, 1861 to 1952," transfer to trustees of the Goondiwindi Sub-Branch of The Returned Sailors, Soldiers, and Airmen's Imperial League of Australia, Queensland Branch, the estate in fee-simple in the said land to be held by such lastmentioned trustees upon the trusts for which that Sub-Branch may hold lands and other property under and subject to the constitution, rules and by-laws of the said League, but absolutely freed and discharged from the trusts upon and subject to which that land has heretofore been held. * 25 V. BUILDINGS. 371 1953. R. H. Treweeke Memorial, Etc., Act. 3. Any property which is vested in the said Existing Sub-Branch or trustees for the same by virtue of this Act shall be so vested subject to any debt, liability, or obligation specially charged on or affecting the same. On and after the date of the passing of this Act neither the said R. H. Treweeke Memorial for Soldiers nor the trustees therefor of the said land and premises shall be subject to any liability in respect of any debt, liability or obligation hereinbefore in this section mentioned, but every such liability shall, on and after such date, be imposed on and discharged by the said Sub-Branch. SCHEDULE. All that piece or parcel of land situated in the County of Marsh, Parish and Town of Goondiwindi, described as subdivision 1 of allotment 1 of section 23 containing an area of 1 rood (be the same a little more or less) being the whole of the land contained in Certificate of Title No. 292345 Volume 1606, folio 85.
