Queensland Queensland Tourist and Travel Corporation Amendment Act 1993 Act No. 49 of 1993 An Act to amend the Queensland Tourist and Travel Corporation Act1979 [Assented to 30 September 1993]

4 Queensland Tourist and Travel Corporation Amendment No. 49, 1993 The Parliament of Queensland enacts— ˙ Short title 1. This Act may be cited as the Queensland Tourist and Travel Corporation Amendment Act 1993 . ˙ Amended Act 2. The QueenslandTouristandTravelCorporationAct1979 is amended as set out in this Act. ˙ Insertion of new s.2 3. After section 1— insert— ˙ ‘Definitions ‘2. In this Act— “appointed day” means 1 August 1979; “Corporation” means the Queensland Tourist and Travel Corporation. ’. ˙ Omission of ss.3–5 4. Sections 3 to 5— omit. ˙ Replacement of ss.7–9 5. Sections 7 to 9— omit, insert—

5 Queensland Tourist and Travel Corporation Amendment No. 49, 1993 ˙ ‘Membership of Corporation ‘7.(1) The Corporation is to consist of the following members— (a) the chairperson; (b) 6 other members. ‘(2) The members are to be appointed by the Governor in Council. ‘(3) In deciding whether to appoint a person, the Governor in Council must have regard to the person’s management skills and knowledge of the tourist and travel industry. ‘(4) The members must elect a member to be the deputy chairperson at the first meeting held after— (a) all of the members assume office; or (b) if the deputy chairperson vacates the office—the appointment of a member in place of the member who was the deputy chairperson. ˙ ‘Term of appointment of members ‘8. A member of the Corporation is to be appointed for a term of not more than 3 years. ˙ ‘Observers at Corporation meetings ‘9. The Governor in Council may appoint— (a) an officer of the department; and (b) an officer of the department in which Part 4 of the FinancialAdministration and Audit Act 1977 is administered; to be observers at the Corporation’s meetings. ’. ˙ Omission of s.11 (Casual vacancy in member’s office) 6. Section 11— omit .

Section 15— omit. ˙ Amendment of s.16 (Engagement and employment of staff) 8.(1) Section 16(2) and (3)— omit ‘ Department of Employment, Vocational Education, Training and Industrial Relations ’, insert ‘ department in which the IndustrialRelationsAct1990 is administered ’. (2) Section 16(3)— omit ‘ heard and determined pursuant to the Industrial Conciliation and Arbitration Act 1961–1976 by The Industrial Conciliation and Arbitration ’, insert ‘ decided under the Industrial Relations Act 1990 by the Industrial Relations ’. (3) Section 16(4) and (5)— omit. ˙ Amendment of s.17 (Rights of officers previously employed in Public Service) 9.(1) Section 17(1)— omit ‘ pursuant to section 16(4) is deemed ’, insert ‘ under repealed section 16(4) was taken ’. (2) Section 17(2)— omit all words from ‘ prior ’ to ‘ section 16(4) is deemed ’, insert ‘ before the appointed day was a contributor to the State Service Superannuation Fund and who under repealed section 16(4) was taken ’. (3) Section 17(3)— omit.

(5) After section 17(4)— insert— ‘(5) Despite subsection (4), a person whose employment with the Corporation is terminated by it because of disciplinary action does not automatically become readmitted to the public service on termination. ’. ˙ Omission of s.17A (Discipline of officers re-admitted to public service) 10. Section 17A— omit. ˙ Replacement of s.19 (Power of delegation) 11. Section 19— omit, insert— ˙ ‘Delegation ‘19. The Corporation may delegate its powers to— (a) a member of the Corporation; or (b) a member of the Corporation’s staff. ’. ˙ Amendment of s.24 (Notice of meetings) 12. Section 24— omit ‘ section 7(3) ’, insert ‘ section 9 ’. ˙ Amendment of s.26 (Conduct of Corporation’s affairs) 13. Section 26(2)— omit ‘ section 7(3) ’, insert ‘ section 9 ’.
