Queensland Tourist and Travel Corporation Act Amendment Act 1984, No. 88 955 BE IT ENACTED by the Queen's Most Excellent Majesty, by and with the advice and consent of the Legislative Assembly of Queensland in Parliament assembled, and by the authority of the same, as follows:- 1. Short title and citation . (1) This Act may be cited as the Queensland Tourist and Travel Corporation Act Amendment Act 1984. (2) In this Act the Queensland Tourist and Travel Corporation Act1979-1981 is referred to as the Principal Act. (3) The Principal Act as amended by the Act may be cited as the Queensland Tourist and Travel Corporation Act1979-1984. 2. Amendment of s. 2. Arrangement of Act. Section 2 of the Principal Act is amended by omitting the words " Borrowings of Corporation " and substituting the word " Audit ". 3. Amendment of s. 4. Interpretation . Section 4 of the Principal Act is amended by inserting after the definition " Minister " the following words:- " ; " Treasurer " means the Treasurer of the State and includes a Minister of the Crown who is temporarily performing the duties of the Treasurer ". 4. Amendment of s. 6. Constitution of Corporation . Section 6 of the Principal Act is amended by, in subsection (1) adding the following paragraph:- " The Corporation shall be capable of compounding or proving in any court of competent jurisdiction all debts and sums of money due to it.". 5. Amendment of s. 7. Members of Corporation . Section 7 (1) of the Principal Act is amended by- (a) omitting the word " seven " and substituting the word " eight "; (b) omitting the word " six " and substituting the word " seven ". 6. Amendment of s. 9. Term of appointment of members . Section 9 (3) of the Principal Act is amended by adding the following paragraph:- " Notwithstanding subsection (2), where the seventh person is appointed under section 7 (b) for the first time by reason of the passing of the Queensland Tourist and Travel Corporation Act Amendment Act 1984, his term of appointment shall be until the expiration of the term of the other members of the Corporation (other than the member ex officio) current at the commencement of that Act.". 7. Amendment of s. 13. Functions of Corporation . Section 13 of the Principal Act is amended by- (a) in subsection (1) renumbering paragraph (e) as paragraph (f) and inserting after paragraph (d) the following paragraph:- (e) to engage or participate in tourist or travel ventures or developmental projects;";
956 Queensland Tourist and Travel Corporation Act Amendment Act 1984, No. 88 (b) in subsection (2) inserting after the word " market " the words ", develop ". 8. Amendment of s. 14 . Powers to discharge functions . Section 14 of the Principal Act is amended by adding the following subsections:- " (3) For the purpose of discharging its functions and exercising its powers, the Corporation is empowered to enter into financial arrangements within the meaning of the StatutoryBodies Financial Arrangements Act1982 with the Treasurer or any other person and in respect of the Corporation as a statutory body within the meaning of that Act the provisions of Part IV of that Act other than the provisions of sections 25A, 25B, 27 (4) and (5), 28 (4) and (5), 33 to 39 (both inclusive), 40 (4), 46 and 47 (1) and (2) apply. (4) The power conferred by the Land Act 1962-1984 on the Governor in Council to grant in fee simple, or demise for a term of years or in perpetuity any Crown land within Queensland includes power to make such a grant or demise to the Corporation for the purpose of a tourist or travel venture or developmental project in which it engages or participates or for any other purpose under this Act and to make such a grant or demise in priority to and to the exclusion of all other persons notwithstanding the provisions of the Land Act 1962-1984.". 9. New heading . Audit. The Principal Act is amended by, after section 40, omitting the words " Division 3-Borrowings of Corporation " and substituting the words " Division 3-Audit.": 10. Repeal of ss. 41-48. The Principal Act is amended by repealing sections 41 to 48 inclusive.
