s1 2 s3 Queensland Statutory Committee Amendment No. 417, 1994 (No. 1) ˙ Short title 1. This rule may be cited as the Queensland Statutory Committee Amendment Rule (No. 1) 1994 . ˙ Rule amended 2. This rule amends the Queensland Statutory Committee Rule 1987 . ˙ Replacement of s 17 (Hearings private) 3. Section 17— omit, insert — ˙ ‘ Hearings to be in public unless committee otherwise orders ‘ 17.(1) Hearings of the statutory committee must be held in public unless the committee orders otherwise. ‘ (2) The committee may make an order under subsection (3) if it is satisfied that it is desirable to do so— (a) because of the confidential nature of the evidence or other matter; or (b) for any other reason. ‘ (3) The committee may, by order— (a) direct that a hearing (or part of a hearing) is to be held in private; and (b) give directions as to the persons who may be present at a hearing held in private. ‘ (4) The committee may, by order, prohibit or restrict the publication— (a) of evidence given before the committee (whether the hearing was in public or in private); and (b) of a matter contained in documents filed with, or received in evidence by, the committee.
s3 3 s3 Queensland Statutory Committee Amendment No. 417, 1994 (No. 1) ˙ ‘ Transcripts ‘ 17A.(1) A person may apply to the Society for a transcript of proceedings before the statutory committee. ‘ (2) The Society must not give to a person a transcript of proceedings, or part of proceedings, that were held in private unless— (a) it is satisfied the person needs the transcript for the purpose of the proceedings or an appeal from the committee’s order; or (b) it is required to do so by a subpoena from a court of competent jurisdiction; or (c) the committee directs that the transcript be provided. ‘ (3) If the society gives a transcript to a person, it may charge the person a reasonable amount for the cost of providing the transcript.’.
