REGULATION UNDER THE QUARANTINE ACT 1908-1924.*

advice of the Federal Executive Council, hereby make the following Regulation
under the

Amendment of Quarantine (Plants) Regulations.
Regulation 21, sub-regulation B, of the Quarantine (Plants) Regulations is repealed and the following sub-regulation inserted in its stead:—
B.—(1) In the case of citrus fruits
from any country in which citrus canker (
(
a ) that the fruit was grown in the country specified;(
b ) that the consignment is free from citrus canker;(
c ) that the fruit after picking and prior to packing was effectively fumigated with hydrogen cyanide gas or by such other gas or method as is prescribed or approved by the Director of Quarantine,
provided that citrus fruits, which, are unaccompanied by a certificate of treatment, shall on arrival be ordered into Quarantine, and shall be subjected to fumigation as prescribed or if found on examination to be free from visible pest or disease, may be admitted with or without treatment, as ordered by the Director of Quarantine.
(2) In the case of pips (imported as pips) the certificate shall certify the country of origin, the occurrence of, or freedom from citrus canker in the said country, the nature of the preparation and treatment of the pips and that the pips are clean and free from pulp.
