Quarantine (General) Regulations2

(Amendment)

I, THE GOVERNOR-GENERAL of the Commonwealth of Australia, acting with the advice of the Federal Executive Council, hereby make the following Regulations under the Quarantine Act 1908.

Principal Regulations

1. In these Regulations, “Principal Regulations” means the Quarantine (General) Regulations.

Disposal of refuse

2. Regulation 33c of the Principal Regulations is amended—

(a) by omitting from sub-regulation (1) all words from and including “shall” and substituting “shall, while the vessel remains in or near a declared port, make available for collection by a person authorized under sub-regulation 34 (1), at such times or at such intervals as are specified in a notice in writing given to the master or owner of the vessel by a person so authorized, all animal waste, organic refuse, galley scraps or waste from the vessel”;

(b) by omitting from sub-regulation (2) “, and remaining in or near that declared part for a period of at least 24 hours”; and

(c) by omitting from sub-regulation (5) “and item 9 of Part 1 of Schedule 2”.

Repeal of regulation 80

3. Regulation 80 of the Principal Regulations is repealed.

4. Schedule 2 to the Principal Regulations is repealed.
